Context, context, context.
I recall that flop and everyone was fooled because the ball handler brought his elbows high to clear space (meaning any contact is an automatic foul). Thomas then reacted like a stuntman so that only a slow mo replay revealed a complete lack of contact (probably because he actually thought an elbow was hitting him in the mouth which it would have).
Not exactly that same thing as a flop away from the ball by a team that is trying to claw its way into a game with some help from whistles.

I wonder if this outrage was on the boards when Thomas did one of the worst flops I have seen last year vs tsun. Maybe it was, but I remember laughing at Thomas faking being elbowed. The NCAA needs to take it out of the game, but until they do getting fouls called even where there aren't any is part of the game. .
north till ya smell it, west till ya step in it.

Anybody catch the attempted Flop at about 1:40 mark?
