Apparently ESPN Can't Even Mention B1G Anymore

  • Just got home from work and I catch Andre Ware on College Football Live talking about what conference Notre Dame should join if they were to in fact join a conference. They talked about the ACC and Big 12 and Andre Ware decided on the Big 12 because of "geographical reasons." Uhhh, I guess Indiana is close to everything in the Big 12? Ok, Andre what's another reason they should join the Big 12? "Well they play Texas in a few years so they will already be comfortable with a powerhouse of the conference." I guess playing Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue nearly every year isn't all that good enough of a reason but playing Texas in a couple years is okay. They do play Oklahoma this coming season but it isn't like they're big rivalry games where games with UM and MSU tend to be. The bias is just absolutely hilarious.

Wow. That is absurd. Have you also noticed how LITTLE highlights and clips they show from the B1G? You have to think if they are in fact shaping the college football landscape. Very annoying.

  • Notre Dame should not join a conference. They should also not get any preference in attending meetings for conferences. It is their choice to stay independent.

I do see the B1G going to 14 or 16 teams down the road when they can cost justify it. The schools will have to bring in viewers like never before. I am sure that all of the presidents in the B1G will take less money when a school joins. If that is not the case then it will require a school to bring in 25 to 30 million dollars to the profit pot to be split among the scools. That will require a lot of TV's.

There may be a few schools out there that could bring in that kind of money but they are few and far between.

  • I suppose the next step is for ESPN to offer Notre Dame the "Irish Network" if they agree to join the Big 12 and give them the rights to the annual Texas vs. Notre Dame game.

There's no way Ware came up with this idea by himself, because it has nothing to do with his time at Houston. If ESPN becomes any more transparent you won't be able to see the picture on your TV.

  • ESPN promotes their product. If you are aired on one of their channels, they will draw more attention to try and get higher ratings. Their not into talking up their competitors product.

  • I can just visualize how they'll broadcast the Sportscenter of OSU winning a national championship a few years from now by like 20 points: Item 1: (3 minutes of Tim Tebow highlights playing) Announcer: Well it looks like Tim Tebow is on another hot streak as he has his team poised for the playoffs (just an example, not a prediction). Item 2: (5 second clip of an LSU receiver catching a touchdown pass) LSU was barely edged out in the national championship game. Now let's go to (insert random reporter) for the latest on Drew Brees' contract extension (cue Item 3: 5 minute Drew Brees segment).

  • Well I'm sure that the opening intro of sportscenter will oddly exclude osu hoisting the crystal trophy. I say oddly because that's normally their intro of all the years champions.

I'm not usually a believer in the whole "bias" thing but it is ignorant to not mention the BIG 10.

  • They just hurt their own credibility with stupidity like this. People know where ND is and people know who they play and who they don't. Just because dipshits at ESPN choose to say or not say something doesn't mean it doesn't exist or isn't true.

Another reason why I don't read anything ESPN related or watch any of their programming.

Yeah...and they are named ND and TX.

    It's very short list.

  • I would like to see the Big ten add at least 1 more major football program, I know this means they would have to add at least 2 more schools. However I could careless if ND is one of them. They bring money I understand that and you really don't tell them no I also understand that but the big ten does not need to base all future expansion plans around Notre Lame. They bring no new recruiting ground to the conference and they will be no more than another middle of the road program going 8-4 and loosing outback bowls.

  • I stopped watching ESPN about 3 years ago. I will not watch that channel unless OSU is playing and I can't get it anywhere else. Life has been good.

  • I've noticed while skimming through the guide ESPNU shows almost everything SEC, hopefully soon enough they make a network too then all the networks become national
