Boarding House: Tuesday Edition

Stoney’s role? Chucky’s arrival? Frank’s dilemma? All that and more in the Tuesday Boarding House.

  • Oh BTW...did you guys here that there was a scandal involving sold OSU memorabelia by some players?

    coachjenks

  • I like the sound of the possible new role for Stoney. Anything to get the ball in more reliable hands. Hopefully he can stay healthy this year.

    stauff07

  • Wow, bad day coach? You are right though. A lot of the stuff in this boarding house has already been talked about.

    stauff07

  • CONFIDENCE! CONFIDENCE! say it frank and man up. many people feel u can do it.

  • ...can't please all of the people all of the time.

  • I live for the daily Boarding House. Don't change a thing.

  • Sorry guys...I like it too. It just doesn't seem as much like realy "insider" info as it used to. Also, you should know I threatened to kick mother nature's ass today for all the rain that is now pooled in my backyard. I've been chasing away ducks and gees all day!

  • Jenks, I hear what you're saying, but a lot of times certain information goes in circles. For example, we had it in the BH during winter that Stoney would likely play more of a WR role this year. Then we had another source refute that and say he would never play any sort of WR role because he had lost his speed. Then recently we had another source very close to the situation break it down and tell us exactly how he's going to be used this year. And that info jibes with what we've seen during spring ball the times practices/scrimmages have been open to the media.

So, something can be of the same topic/same player, but have new information. Kind of like the Andrew Sweat/Etienne Sabino stuff we kept reporting on last year in the BH. We kept saying one was going to start and one would redshirt ... and we would post new items on the same topic with the more information that came in. Please remember we're getting this stuff from many different sources/people. So, a lot of times we're going to look at something as "fresh news" because it came from a certain source. Now, if he (or she) says the exact same thing as someone else, we won't print it, but that's not the case here. All of these items include new pieces of information.

  • And as far as confidence...has he been to a practice this year? Or has he read that none of the wide outs that we have seem to catch the ball consistantly? If his confidence is shaken in light of those facts then maybe the staff should look elsewhere. How hard is it to find 4 guys that can catch? *(scarcasm font: on)* I hear that we have a lot of talent in Ohio this year. *(scarcasm font: off)*

  • love everyday boarding house. Who cares if 2/5 have been talked about before? Its better than getting nothing while sitting at work on lunch bored.

  • I'm really glad to hear Stoney is going to get to play more WR. I was a HUGE fan of moving him to TE just based on his athleticism. Unfortunately I don't think he's ever really been able to catch on to playing TE. And that's ok, it's just not his natural position. But, to hear he's going to be playing a lot more WR is great. Stoneburner has everything needed to be a dominant WR. Great hands, awesome size, excellent route-running. And if he can shed some of the weight between now and fall camp, his speed should increase as well. I think that fact that he's played TE the past season will also increase his toughness. He's used to going head-to-head with guys twice his size. What do you think he's going to do to someone HALF his size. Stoney's going to have a great year!

I gotcha Dave! Thanks for the explanation. Aren't we all just ready for the season to start and have some games to talk about?!

Now THATS funny!! (Not the snow part.)

  • Lack of separation usually equates to lack of speed and athletism. Stony is a fit for TE, but in no way possesses the speed and quickness needed for a top flight WE positon or even used as such. I am guessing this signals a "real conservative passing game approach". By combining Stony with Fragel on the field the same time and no "speed to stretch the field", we are looking at a short field passing game. Will work against Akron and Toledo, but not against Miami, Fla. This approach will also hurt rhe running game, as watch the 8-9 man box come our way.

  • I agree, knowing there is a Boarding House everyday definitely makes work better.

    Doc

  • Isn't Stoney still running a 4.6 40?

On one hand, I'm glad to see the Boarding House everyday. On the other hand, it seems so watered down that I don't feel as if I'm reading anything that hasn't already been discussed or I havent already read an article about.

    > We know...Stoneburner will be used as a WR...so has every other TE deployed in that personnel grouping. > We know...the current WR group has had trouble making catches this spring. > We know...there's LOTS of talent in Ohio this year but not enough schollies to go around. > We know...the Epitropolous kid has an offer but hasn't verbaled yet...oh yah and he's a legacy. > WE KNOW ALREADY! Chucky IS NOT the next OSU coach!

Sorry to be cynical, maybe all the rain is chapping my behind...

I've been feeling this way also. I saw Dbids explaination of this situation but some of the stuff that gets put in BH now is just random news, not insider info or anything. Watered down is right!

  • So i heard Jon Gruden has a house in columbus, does anyone think he's going to take over for the vest? =)

  • I'm glad for a little more clarification of what is happening with Stoney. This seems a little more certain than we have heard before. After getting him to put on weight for the TE position, I wonder if they really want to have him lose weight when he will still do both.

Ep seems a bit different of a situation than I had understood, I thought things were sitting pretty well. I don't understand the negativity expressed in the quote about the offer, surely there must be some requirements on him, as well, to determine how we will use him. Frankly, my biggest hope was around punting.

The closest that I will ever get to a Buckeye ring or Gold Pants. Saw it sold on e-bay April 29, 2011 for $8500.

  • Dave Question, In reference to the WR's you said translate " Lack of separation". Is that because they aren't fast enough OR because the DB's are better and faster than expected, thoughts?

  • Doug Worthington (2008) and Lacharles Bentley (2002) had their gold pants selling to a pawn shop in Vegas on "PawnStars". That looked great with all of the controversy surrounding the program. I think it was the show titled "Pablo Pawncasso" if anyone cares to see it "on demand.
