I thought you were a big proponent of OSU and UM being in the same division. That playing twice in any year would diminish the rivalry.

Glad to see you came around. :)

No, I think you have it wrong. I said there are 2 parts to that. What is good for the B1G an what is goor for the rivalry. What is good for the B1G is competitive balance so Ohio State and Michigan have to be in seperate divisions. What is good for the rivalry is for them to be in the same.

  • I think all of you who think that an undefeated season again next year equates to an automatic invite to the championship game are kidding yourselves. If this year is any indication of next year in the B1G, no one outside the OSU fan base is going to give us any respect for going undefeated. I can almost guarantee that a lackluster performance next year will drop us in the human polls, even if we win. The computers are going to butcher us too. Look at what happened to FSU this year (before the loss to UF, they had Stan, LSU, and S. Car all ranked ahead of them with two losses each).

At the end of the day, we are going to need some help to get in there. If FSU, Notre Dame, Pac12 Champ, or Big 12 Champ go undefeated and the SEC Champ is a perennial powerhouse like Bama, LSU, or Florida with only one loss, we will be on the outside looking in. Mark it down.

But wouldn't something that 'really burn(s) them up' be good for a rivalry?

I would think people at OSU would be embarrassed by this schedule, but no one seems to be. That is sad.

When they made the scheadule Cal was supposed to be better vandy was on there an improved team but you can only beat what is in front of you Michigan at there place Wisky at home Penn State whom knew??Iowa?? 1 game at a time Northwestern will be a good game All in All we have to take care of our conference then whom ever they put in front of us .... Stay healthy

  • It will not matter what the computers think of our schedule. The human polls are 2/3 of the BCS formula, and the last 7 years the 2 teams that were in the top 2 in the human polls went to the NC game. If OSU goes 13-0 after starting in the top 3 in the country, there is no doubt that they will play in the NC game. Also some here forget or underestimate the respect factor that Urban Meyer brings nationally that will result in higher votes in the polls.

  • SDSU is not awful and traveling out West to play a Pac-12 team can always be a trap, although Cal is not very good, but it's definitely not the worst Ooc schedule, FLA A&M is ridiculous though. As others have mentioned, Wisky will be top 20 when they come to Cbus, Northwestern will most likely be top 15-20 (if they win their bowl game and have a decent preseason ranking) and that game will be at night. scUM will be ranked all year and decent as well and then the possible B1G champ game would most likely be against a 1 or 2 loss team ranked in the top 15-20. Next years schedule depends heavily on the B1G's bowl performance this year and the preseason rankings next year. If things go well, the Buckeyes could be looking at 3,4 or 5 games against ranked opponents. If the teams that are supposed to win against the bottom of the B1G manage to do so next season and the conference ends up with 4 or 5 teams with less than 3 losses, it instantly makes our schedule look that much better. These early rankings are baseless and not grounded in anything tangible so the perception of next seasons schedule is heavily dependent on early rankings and the perception of the B1G.

It will be interesting to see where we are ranked to start the season. If the B1G lays an egg this bowl season, we may not see a top 3 ranking. The B1G is getting no respect right now in the media, and if they don't get their act together next year, a top two finish is going to be difficult. We are going to have Boise State syndrom next year.

Yeah, beating them twice in 2 weeks would burn them up!

  • That schedule could cause a real problem with getting to the BCS championship next year if there is at least one other undefeated team. This year a few BCS prognosticators have said that our SOS would have had us ranked third in the final BCS poll. Next year's schedule is worse.

Absolutely hate this schedule. We should have tried to add a bigger name when vandy bailed.

OSU was caught in the economics. The budget is built around at least 7 home games per year. That means that you can only have one home-and-home game in your OOC and, if a big name school was available, they would require a home-and-home series and that would screw up you budget.

I dont think a win in the B1G champ game is being factored into this analysis. Don't underestimate a win over then # 12 Nebraska to win the B1G and go undefeated. I think tOSU would be playing ND.

  • San Diego State will be a tough game. Hard to believe but it will be.

Glad we have Buffalo to warm up the new D, and glad we have San Diego State at home. It will help.

We have four games to work on, get film on, and develop our defensive talent and get our newbie play makers in on offense. Super part of our schedule.

We have Whisky, who will be very tough as they will have back their starting QB and starting MLB for the game but it will be in Columbus. Our fans need to show up big time.

Odd as it may seem, I see a 24 and 0 start for Urban Meyer at OSU.

    GO BUCKS! URBAN RENEWAL!
