Bri'onte Dunn has re-opened his recruitment

  • Just interviewed him. Not good from an OSU perspective. He says "I'm going to visit Michigan and I'm going to visit other schools too. I'm just keeping my options open at this point."

    When asked if the Jim Tressel news is affecting his recruitment, he said: "Yeah, I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just going to take my visits like anybody else would do. I don't know what's going to happen with the NCAA investigation, so I'm just going to sit back and see what happens before making a final decision."

    What are you most-concerned about? "I don't want him to get fired. And I don't want a bowl ban."

    We knew that this possibility would exist with all that is going on around the program. It sucks but at least we are deep at running back and still have Warren Ball coming in for 2012. This will probably get worse before it gets better but there isn't enough information right now for the recruits and their parents to discuss this rationally until the NCAA hands down it's findings. This could be a major bump in the road, I know that this is eatin JT alive inside and the embarassment and shame is still looming large.

  • I get it...not mad at the kid...wish he would stay committed because he is a stud puppy...

    hopefully he is the first/last recruit casualty...but then jumps back on board at the end...

  • frankly speaking the uncertainy sucks but at the same time would you rather have a dark cloud over the program March-August or in season and down the stretch of recruiting season.

    No matter what happens, we'll likely have some closure before the season starts and some time to either catch up or recover.

  • Can't blame him for keeping his options open at this point, but unless we get blasted (which I don't expect) I have trouble see him switching anywhere.

    Also, I understand why he is doing this. Let me be clear. But, I am pissed that he is. This is the time that he should galvanize his committment to OSU, not waver.

    Honestly, there are no real commitments right now - just promises that may or may not be kept. At least it looks like we will know what is what and who is or isn't coaching well before actual commitments are needed. I hope we still can make it work for this kid. He sure looks to be worth the fight. There are so many negative voices in these ears.

  • I'm only worried if he goes somewhere other than Michigan at this point. Michigan is gonna need a whole hell of a lot more than him to even have a chance at competing with us for awhile. He'll be in and out of there before they're good enough to beat us. Didn't Michigan just lose two more DB's too? Lmao.

    Also, do we pursue Rushel Shell now?!

    It is for this reason that JT may even resign before fall starts. Believe me that ESPN will not let this story die, we are bigger than any one coach or player. The thing is for the kind of money JT makes at 3.5 M a year, the worst collar you can get is the moniker of being a liar or dishonest in business. What ever JT's real reasons were we will probably never know! If you work at a bank and get caught lying to the FDIC and it makes the news you're fired. As much as we won't want Tress to leave I think this will probably force the administrations hand or his resignation.

  • no offense but isnt 2 RBs in this small class a little much anyway? Would love to see this kid come to OSU but why do we need 2 RBs? We are loaded right now and have Ball coming in still. We have tons of talent in Ohio at other positions we cannot take well here is an opening.
