This really is a great feature. I hope BN will do more of these, with as many bona fide experts as possible, to discuss the whole array of topics the board is following. Great answers, from smart guys, about topics we all care passionately about. Can't beat that!

On the "Is the media fair" topic, I am struck by how many kids who get Buckeye offers these days say something along the lines of “It’s Ohio State. It’s one of the best schools out there in the country” as Jalen Ramsey, CB/Athlete from Brentwood Tennessee, told Bill Kurelic today. You read quotes like this in the interviews that accompany nearly every offer.

Whether you believe there's national media bias against tOSU or not, clearly some very good news is getting through to kids. The overwhelming majority of kids praise Ohio State as a great academic institution with a 'gold standard' football program, rich in tradition and famous for the excellence of its players and teams.

While there is undoubtedly some Yankee-effect animosity aimed at tOSU by the media on occasion, there's also a lot of great publicity about tOSU getting through to kids all over the country. For that, I think, we can credit Jim Tressel. Even after his fall from grace, all the winning he did in his ten years has had a lasting positive effect on the reputation of the program. [We can credit others too, of course. Paul Brown, Woody Hayes, Archie Griffn, Eddie George, Urban Meyer ...even Kirk Herbstreit] But the reason tOSU gets these spontaneous positive responses from 17 year old recruits is the most recent record of excellence established by Jim Tressel. That and the promise of continued excellence personified by Urban Meyer.

Media bias? We don't worry 'bout no stinkin' media bias. We're The Ohio State University. Deal with it!
