Buckeye BB is in major trouble

  • I am sure I am going to get beat up by some of you. OSU basketball has major major issues. Parker has ZERO chance of coming here. We loose Sully and 2 others to transfers. We loose our best outside shooter in WB. WTF is Matta doing? We have 3 starters back and only 1 is a scorer. Indiana is Loaded, Scum has a great class and then we have the best coach in the B10 Izzo he will have his team ready to play. How does this happen to a school like OSU. It wouldn't happen to MSU.. Is Matta the problem? I'm just asking. I am sure many of you know more about this than I do but I can't believe we are in this position. If I hear anything about Scott being the answer I will vomit...........

  • You have NO clue. Does it look great on paper? NO but look at what Matta does EVERY single year. Even if we don't pick up a single player this year that will play a minute we will be fine with who we have returning. Numbers are exactly that. Look at our top 8. We will be just fine.

It is unusual to be sure (the fallout) after having just played in a national semifinal and winning 31 games. I predict they add one more piece this off season that is eligible to play this upcoming season and then we can actually, you know, have a full 5 on 5 scrimmage at practice. I'm sorry, Alex Rogers doesn't count. However, any significant injuries sustained this upcoming year could easily send the season into the toilet real quick.

  • We could, if Amir improves in the offseason, and LaQuinton Ross has a good offseason as well, have the best starting five in the BIG with Deshaun, who will arguably be the best player in the BIG, returning. Yea, our recruiting class is nonexistent this year, but I am pretty positive Matta will real in an outstanding recruiting class next year. So while this year might only be a solid year, we will most likely have two or more Final Four appearances in the next ten years.

  • Matta has shown a long standing ability to develop both players and team play to the end of winning 20 games or more per season. Isn't it a little premature to assume they fall apart next season? Smith, Craft, and Thomas represent 60% of a team that went to the final four! Amir, Thomas, Ross and Scott have much undeveloped talent that Matta has shown he can develop. Ravenal is back and is an example of how Matta can develop another teams cast off into an effective off the bench player!.

Let's see how they play before issuing that death warrant. Just saying! dramaqueenhoops

  • Izzo has had about 4 transfers the last few years of real big time kids like Allen and Lucious due to off court issues, and I am hearing Nix's day could be numbered, great info.
Michigan has one decent class in a decade and we should worry, yawn. They will still lose double digit games next year like every year.
OSU has 9 solid players back, if we add Della Valle and maybe some type of 5th year senior, and one of two transfers for 2013, we are fine.
Yes, OSU hoops is in trouble. 5 Big Ten titles under Matta, 3 Big Ten tourney titles and 2 Final Four's, most schools would love to be in that much trouble. What an idiot.

I'm the idiot your freaking clueless. the problem is being content on big ten championships. I am sure If Urban wins 5 big 10 championships he will be fine if he doesn't win it all. Stop being a HOMER and open your eyes

How many Big Ten tites has OSU won in their history?
OSU has on 20 Big Ten's men tites in their long history, Matta has five of them in seven years, along with three Big Ten tourney finals and two more finals appearances. Throw in two FF' and a NIT title.
Not bad for a coach taking a non basketball program over that was on probation and not allowed in the tourney his first year.

  • Uh, I'm not sure how long you've been a buckeye fan, but I'm sorry to inform you Ohio State is not a national basketball powerhouse. We won't get top 5 classes every year, so if you're expecting that you better switch to rooting for Kentucky.

I think it really just comes down to semantics. Sure, they aren't a blue blood like Duke, UNC, UCLA, Indiana, Kansas but they are EASILY in that second tier of what I would say ARE actually national powerhouses (as you said) like Syracuse, MSU, Arizona, UCONN, etc. Why are so many Buckeye fans afraid of having lofty expectations for their basketball program? Ask Thad if his program is a national powerhouse and let me know of your findings.
