  • Ok I am going to ask the obvious question.....why would these guys care if a registered sex offender is anywhere? they are football players and would kick his ass if he tried something. where does this bullshit come from, who is the one that was reporting it and it got to the media, and who else thinks it is some kind of plant......

    Bottom Line: The current trend in College football recruiting is &*&*(&'d up.

    I think a lot of us on here are aware that "Verbal commits" from 16-17 yo's a year in advance is pretty ridiculous and about as strong as a politician's guarantee, but that's the trend.

    My reasoning (purely guesses on what happened)
    #1: Fact: A "school's" "booster" can be shown in pictures and twitter possibly influencing potential "recruits", thus Anzalone was scared off.

    Simplest Solution: Anzalone removes all ties with said "Booster" and "school".
    PITA Solution: He stays with his Ohio St. and potentially becomes part of a NCAA investigation.

    Possibility #2: that the Undergrad-MBA (4yr) degree he was mentioning doesn't really exist.

    Good news:
    We all know through the years that 80-90% of these recruits don't live up to their hype.
    Coaching is one of the most important factors for a winning team, so I am still hyped for the future of the Buckeyes.

    That said, it still sucks, A guy of Anzalone's hype will be missed, but I would rather not be in Penn State's shoes either 'cause the Sandusky thing could have drastic consequences to their school and football program.

    Also you can't blame twitter (Which I am a big critic of them) but this "Booster" sounds a little crazy and delusional.
    I can't believe a child sex offender who violates his probation only gets a misdemeanor.
    (He should have known the law, or spent his time researching his probation rules instead of tweeting).

  • Who cares. Best of luck to him. He's probably going to need it. If he goes to another Big Ten school, then he's going to be "that guy" for the next four-five years when they play the Bucks.

  • IF this is indeed because of Mr. Creepy, I can't really fault the kids for wanting to get away. Especially at their age. Future is too bright. That said...

    And to decommit so fast and not even consider OSU seems odd. I have to agree that it is indeed d*mned strange that we lost 2/3 commitments so suddenly when they all appeared to be such solid locks for us. There is a snake in the midst and I almost hope it was that Creepy dude because at least now he's outed and we can deal with it. A small loss in recruited to preserve the rest of our class (and keep him away from any of the rest of our players and future recruits for THEIR well-being).

    Because if it's something else...I don't want to think. There's either a nasty poison inside the program we have yet to uncover, or there's some very crooked recruiting going on out there and my already shaken faith in College Football may just slide into the abyss....

    (If Heuerman, Anzalone, and Neil end up at the same place...do we take notice then?)

    I don't know why it's so hard to believe that a recruit was creeped out by a registered sex offender to the point that he (or his parents) simply wanted to distance themselves from the entire incident and simply move on. As far as I've seen on these boards there aren't any plausible alternate explanations backed up by any facts. Simplest explanation is usually the correct one.
