OSU's First 3 Games Set at Noon, Plus Best Guesses For Rest

  • In the 90's FSU played many of their games in primetime. To get three games at night in Urbs first season is spectacular!

  • I believe 12-0 is a strong possibility and I won't back off of it, but that night game in Happy Valley makes me nervous. It WILL be another whiteout! 2005 comes to mind and how intimidating it is... I never saw Ginn play that much like a bitch in my life. Hopefully Urban will have these boys ready to strap up and slap up them damn kitty cats!

Is there a chance the Cal game may still be a night game? West coast team, out of conference, three hour time difference. That would set up perfect for a night game.

No, usually, they announce all the night games up front right now and that's it. Rest are day games. OSU also doesn't want 2 in a season. 1 is enough.

Ohio State will play in three prime time games in 2012 – Urban Meyer’s first season as the OSU coach.

So even though OSU can not go to the post season, the B1G still puts the Buckeyes center stage.

I will be in town for Homecoming and the Nebraska game! I cannot wait to celebrate a big time win for our homecoming. Also, sometimes "the Game" is played at 3:30pm (see 2006). So that could be a possibility. I am trying to get back for that game as well.

I would not call 1 time out of a 100 or so games "sometimes" "The Game" is played at 3:30pm ..

Really surprised this wasn't a night game....just to generate some national interest.

At Indy...... a featured night game.....seriously?

  • Lates schedule update has OSU starting at noon first 3 weekends, all at home.

    Sept.. 1 Miami (Ohio), BTN

    Sept. 8, Central Florida (ESPN2)

    Sept. 15, California (ABC)

My best guesses on the rest:

    2012 Ohio State Schedule

Sept. 1 – Miami (Ohio), noon (BTN) OFFICIAL Meyer's first game at OSU

Sept. 8 – Central Florida, noon (ESPN2) OFFICIAL

Sept. 15 – California, noon (ABC regional, back haul likely on ESPN or ESPN2) OFFICIAL

Sept. 22 – Alabama-Birmingham, likely noon on BTN

Sept. 29 –at Michigan State, have to think 3:30 on ABC

    Oct. 6 – Nebraska (OFFICIAL: 8 p.m. on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2)

Oct. 13 – at Indiana (OFFICIAL: 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network)

Oct. 20 – Purdue, likely noon on BTN, ESPN or ESPN2 unless Michigan-MSU is the noon game, then it could be 3:30

Oct. 27 – at Penn State (OFFICIAL: 6 p.m. on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2)

Nov. 3 – Illinois, likely noon on ESPN or ESPN2 with Neb-MSU probably at 3:30

    Nov. 10 – Open

Nov. 17 – at Wisconsin, could be noon or 3:30, depends what they want to do with Iowa-Michigan the same day, probably 3:30 would be my guess

Nov. 24 – Michigan, noon (ABC) OFFICIAL

  • It's kind of nice most of the games have start times already. It's hard to make plans sometimes, because you usually don't know until two weeks before the game.

  • Them putting the Cal game at noon doesn't make any sense. I thought for sure that would be a 3:30 start.

Agreed, I can't figure that out. They put Navy-Penn State on ABC at 330 instead. I would have figured 330 just so west coast viewers could also watch, but it is just Cal (not Oregon or USC), so there you go.

  • Don't laugh but central fla may be a better opponent than cal. I like that opportunity early in year. If we were playing for a bowl would be very good non conf strength of schedule game.

At least the Nebraska game is at 8. Dying for night games as a student - there's nothing better.

I think it's safe to assume that the UAB game will be a noon game, MSU 3:30, Purdue 12:00 or 3:30, Illini 3:30 and Wiscy 3:30

When we got payback against Purdue 2 years ago it was a 3:30 game I believe, so I think this years will be as well. Plus when I interviewed Smith he said he wanted more afternoon/night games because the fans get more involved, so I think that makes Purdue a more likely 3:30 start. Which surprises me that the Cal game isn't at night, unless they're trying to keep it from being a night game at Cal next year.

A night game at Cal next year means an 11pm kickoff on EST TV's. Doubt it. It'll be a 5pm kickoff like USC game.
