    I can't freaking believe this was not anticipated. If so, we could have forgone this year's bowl and put it behind us. Now we have this hanging over our heads for another year. What BS is that? I'm not sure if I should be directing my anger at Smith or at the NCAA. Is it true that this is an unprecedented penalty? I just want to break something!

    Vent your anger at the NCAA.

    They have their own set of rules that they apply differently in each situation. There is no "if you do A, your punishment is B". Trying to understand what they will or will not do is like trying to read the tea leaves and it does feel like they are "making things up" as they go along. That's why Smith said he was going off of precedent. There is nothing else you could use.

  • The new recruits are taking it better than I am, which is good because if it hurt recruiting I would really be ticked. This crap was blown up all out of proportion. I won't miss Tressel's boring offense and I am really happy with the hiring of Coach Meyer, but Tressel did not deserve to lose his job over this and the kids that lost playing time were punished too severely.The NCAA is a joke and I would say I lost a lot of respect for them, but I didn't have any in the first place and I sure don't have any now.

  • At 6'3 200 - I still like the idea of Caleb as a hard nosed FS. If he committed in front of Cox or Bradley and we projected him to D, I would be stoked.

    Even though it is "only one game" (and really might be two with the Big Ten championship), the problem I am having with this whole debacle is that it 'could' be a HUGE two games if you're undefeated after whomping on Michigan. Now you've bungled away a chance at the NC game. Would be a crying shame if that happens.

  • I hope the Buckeyes are somehow #1 in the polls and have to sit out the bowls season. Tostitos and the other big sponsors will be calling the NCAA and going nuts about the Buckeye Nation not filling a stadium somewhere. Its all about $$$ and that would be a great way to give the NCAA and the BCS the finger. Let #2 play #3 for the "National Championship" I would love it!

    Duane....with all due respect, it's more than one game. Indiana is one game. A MAC game is one game. However, a bowl game, say a BCS bowl game, with all its hoopla and national exposure, I think, is a bigger deal than maybe you are giving credit to. Having said this, I don't think it is THAT big that you would decommit or take OSU off your list. So if that was your intent, I agree.

    well USC has still recruited well and they got hit with 3 times what we did, so maybe it won't be that bad.

    OSU nation just feels robbed and that is what hurts the most.

    main difference is usc has the weather, beach, LA...kids are drawn to the pizazz of Hollywood living.

  • If we go undefeated in 2012 it will lessen the hurt to the seniors a bit. It will also serve to taint the B10, BCS and NCAA. They will have champions with tOSU sitting out there undefeated and everyone recognizing they are the best team in the nation. Just hope that Urban can "throw a hundred on every team we play next year"!
