It is a great town, as many have said here.
Funny story ...
My wife's family are all Bengals fans. They have even turned my son against me. Well, I decided to get Browns tickets and take him to a Browns-Ravens game 3-4 years ago when they had Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn.
We parked near the Marriott downtown. Got out of the car, tailgated some at the car and the smell was awful.
I said, "Carter, get a whiff of this. You are no longer in Columbus. This is Cleveland -- this is a major league city."
But he got an education at the Browns game. We sat up in the northwest corner upstairs. I honestly don't know how a lot of those people afford the tickets. F- this and F- that.
Good time overall ... including a Braylon dropped TD.
I love Cleveland. Is there anything left on the west bank of the Flats by the way?? Shooters, as I recall, used to be a big deal.
The Flats are dead. The old Flats anyway. It's being rebuilt with high-end condos, retail, restaurants, etc.
Cleveland ebbs and flows. It's currently on a big upswing, imo.
Phase 1 of the Flats project opens this summer. My buddy has a restaurant opening there called Willeyville. His name is Chris DiLisi and he used to be the Executive Chef at Barricelli Inn in Little Italy. There will also be an Aloft hotel, Ernst Young, apartments and several other eateries and bars. It is going to be really nice.
Prosperity Club is a good bar, kind of a "popular dive.". Sometimes music, accoustic not electric. A little hipster if you're ok with that.
Southside has great food....I'm a big fan. Patio when its nice out is a plus. Get the mac n'cheese, worth it.
Stone Mad just north of Gordon Square is a great bar, especially if the weather is good. Their outdoor patio is like Stonehenge meets the Hobbit, totally homemade and unique. You will never drink in another place like it. The bar is classic Irish. Food and drinks good.
Go get a late night drink at the Velvet Tango Room. Valerio's is the best restaurant in Little Italy, but expensive. If you go say hi to Valerio the owner.
