That is a horseshit story by ESPN to try to make it seem that the B1G isn't as strong as it really is. Yeah, that maybe Alvarex's opinion, but that certainly isn't the truth. You also don't see ESPN doing stories about the SEC possibly losing schools. Every school looks at what is best for them including those in the SEC.
Barry is an AD at a B1G school, you don't think he has a little idea what's going on behind the scenes? I just can't see criticizing someone in his position, I' m sure he knows more then he's letting on.
I am sure that he was just giving his opinion. If PSU was serious about leaving, where would they go? Would they be willing to take less money to be in a conference that pays out a lot less than PSU spends? Plus, if PSU were to leave then the B1G would inevitability replace them with someone in the ACC which would destabilize the ACC even with PSU in it.
No, I don't think anyone over in Happy Valley ever seriously considered leaving the B1G.
