Their schedule is very favorable with only two games that are challenging, at Texas A&M and LSU. They play Virginia Tech,Ole Miss,Georgia State,Kentucky,Arkansas,Tenn,Miss St,Chattanuga, and Auburn. Looks like a ticket to The Game to me.
No way....Georgia State and Chattanuga are supposed to be LOADED next season....
Never know. They're losing a lot of good players on the lines next year. Yeah, they'll still be good.. but it'll depend on how well they're able to replace those players to make it back to the NCG.
Also, don't count out the latest Pig in Arkysaw, ole boy Brett will have a surprise for Satan.
LSU returns a lot. I think they should be a clear favorite over a visiting Bama squad next year. TAMU is a paper tiger in my opinion.
You know who else has a favorable sked?
I would love a crack at them.
Though this year they would of made us their prison wife.
What stood out to me was their beautiful physicality.
Thank God Urban is one spread coach who understands you need physicality.
We have a way to go but we maybe the #1 conrtender to knock them off.
I hope my fear that big physcal football teams win championships can be debunked.
'Bama has big RB's, OL, WR's, Corners, LB's.
Could the contruct of our team match their physicality or offset it with speed?
Lets compare Va. Tech, LSU and Texas A&M along with the SEC championship game to OSU's schedule. Come on. They could face 3 teams ranked in the top 5 when they play them in LSU, A&M and SEC title game. tOSU MIGHT play 3 teams that are ranked.
LSU loses a ton. They just had a couple of their big time defensive linemen declare. They will take a step (although small) back next season...
That lsu game is @ bama, so I doubt lsu would be favorites. They still have to play @ tamu and the SEC championship game against the east (UGA, fla, usce). So lets not count them in yet.
crazy that they keep avoiding georgia, florida, and south carolina in the regular season
I'm not going to pretend that their schedule is a murderers row by any means but on paper it looks a lot harder than ours.
Exactly and that is why Ohio State will be there in Urban's second season. But for a team that is loaded with 4-5 star athletes, Alabama will be able to handle, which is for them a cake walk. After all, no South Carolina,no Georgia.
THIS year was supposed to be a "step back". OMFG, are you kidding me, they're going to be effing loaded again next year. Oversigning.
The Father, The Son... well, it's the
The Holy Trinity... as I see it.
OSU has an easier schedule than Bama. That said, I think OSU will face 3 ranked teams just like Bama. That said, I think the 3 ranked teams Bama will face will almost all be higher ranked than anyone OSU faces.
I think Nebraska is a top 15 team next year. Top 10 if they can find a Defense.
scUM will be a top 15-20 team as well. Loosing duNard will hurt some but I think Gardner with all Spring to work on his progress is the better QB.
I also think Northwestern will be a top 25 team as well. Maybe the best NU team in a very long time.
OSU will play scUM and NU on the road and UN on a nuetral field if things play out as I suspect/hope.
Where they're ranked is almost irrellivent because we know of an sec team shows a pulse at all they'll be overrated. I do think bama's got a tougher road that we do but not by much.
Their talent is their ticket to the game. If we play Bama in the NC game next year, it will be a reply of this years game. Our defense will be too young to stop them.
They will have to roll through the best of those 3 in the SEC title game. Just like the only way tOSU will play Nebraska or MSU is in the B10 title game...tOSU replaced two perennial bowl teams with Northwestern (respectable but not great) and Iowa.
According to ESPN and everybody else there are NO easy games in the SEC. Using that logic should 8-9 games be huge battles?
People always bitch about the next team's schedule but cant ever find a team that plays a tough one. This is especially comical considering our OOC opponents.
"Dorsey...under pressure...throws iiiiiit. Incomplete. The Buckeyes win!" - Keith Jackson
LSU just lost like 5 or 6 guys to early entry IIRC
That has been my arguement against the "Mighty $ec" all along. Sure they have usually one great, a couple very good, some pretty good, and some perenial bottom feeders, but the way their schedules rotate they frequently miss some of the upper grade teams along the way. Often a player will go his entire career without playing some of the teams in conference. With the super conferences forming this will only get worse.
Good days, bad days --- always a Buckeye. Time to begin the assault on the 2014 BCS National Championship
These last 2 years with our schedule has been somewhat of an abomination in that regard. Few teams played teams such as U$C, Texas, Miami, Washington [when they were good] home and home traveling all across the country like we frequently did. Hell Florida hasn't left the state for an OOC game since 1991 when they got their ass handed to them by Syracuse.
Definitely preceding these last couple years we always had a top flight program on the schedule.
Well we were supposed to play Vanderbuilt this year but thet bailed on us
