Does any insiders have any idea as to why Amir hasn't played much?
Is it because Thad doesn't think his defense is ready?
I was just wondering if he thinks twice about coming to OSU and sitting the bench when he could have gone to somewhere (Purdue recruited him hard) and played significantly.
Does anyone know what he is studying or what went into his thought process? I think I remember that he wanted to get into broadcasting, maybe that was someone else.
Something was posted a couple of days ago (maybe Monday?) where Matta addressed that and he is stating it is basically due to match-ups. Like with Wisky...their big's play on the perimeter.....same with Purdue.
Not sure if there is much more to it than that but he did get in briefly last night......because of all the foul trouble.
Here's what i posted in another thread today.
+1...absolutely play Amir more. He makes opponents think twice and distort their shots when he's in the lane. I love having that shot blocking element. It really showed last night when our defense let Purdue get tons of easy layups and there was noone willing to either take a charge, block the shot, or hammer the guy before the shot went up. You do that enough and those guys will not brave it again.
And we will definitely need him if we play either one of those two teams (Syracuse and Kentucky). I would love to see Amir and Sully on the floor together. If only we could play 6 guys at one time.
I agree---if you play Kentucky or Syracuse you need him on the floor with Sully. He needs playing time down the stretch!!!
I don’t think Matta ever plays two big men together. I would love to see Williams play more than Ravenel. No way Ravenel gives you more than Amir would IMO
I'm not a basketball expert b any means, just a casual fan. Whenever I saw Amir playing I was perplexed. He looked like he was playing lost, soft, timid, and lacked energy/effort. I would let him soak it up a little bit more before giving him meaningful minutes. I could be way off here...
To me I just think Thad needs to get them more PT. And what would be so terrible about a lineup of Williams, Sully, Smith jr, Buford, and Craft?
To me that seems like a good line up; but what do i know???
