Since many have been so helpful, I'll run with this knowing I'm not hijacking.
My question for the board is what are your favorite before and after places for a Broadway show for "date night"?
Before the show... I'm leaning towards a quick decent bite and drinks... Maybe some energy like an opening band at a rock concert.
We will have a formal nice dinner another evening (second "date night") in NYC when we have plenty of time to enjoy.
After the Broadway show, I'm thinking initial "fun", another "snack", maybe some music and then a more romantic side of the evening.
I'm trying to get Plan A, Plan B & Plan C options lined up so I can take action depending on how the emotions of the evening go.
I'm mid 40's, I like to rock out to some live music and I will also order liver pate. Just depends on the mood of the day.
Hmm good question. Not get all NYC snooty on you but don't spend much time over there unless I am going to a show which is like 1x/year.
I always liked Carmine's for dinner. It is family style but sometimes my girlfriend and I would go right before or after a show to split a dish or a salad and get drinks at the bar. http://www.carminesnyc.com/
Shake Shack is great for a burger before/after. Not the nicest but the burgers and shakes are really good (44th and 8th)
BB King's 942nd btwn 7th and 8th) usually has live music http://www.bbkingblues.com/
Depends where your show is but I can give you a bunch of solid bars to go to that are a couple blocks away
LOL on a few levels. Your "not get all NYC snooty" comment made me laugh. I'm trying to avoid the snooty scene this go round but it's NYC. Hard not to "go big or go home".
My very first trip to NYC probably 20 years ago included dinner at Carmines. It most definitely left an impression on me. Great to know it's still around. Because it is, puts it on the my short list.
nycbuckeyefan also vouched for the Shake Shack. Another on the short list. No Krystals or White Castles in Manhattan? WTF? I guess I'll have to slum it at Shake Shack.
I will check out the BB King joint. Thanks for the link.
We are doing Phantom. It's the umpteenth time in various cities around the world. But this will be the first one on Broadway.
There is White Castle, but Shake Shack is much better quality. Kind of like In-And-Out or Five Guys style/quality Burgers and then the shack sauce on it is delicious
Let me know how else I can help

Seriously... Thanks for helping out. I only have three nights in the big city so I'm scouring for input from people who actually live the the city life and not simply using Trip Adviser. Trip Adviser is a great resource. I love it. It's just that everybody who posts is a tourist or has an agenda.
I'm trying to filter past the tourists from England or Omaha who post because they had a bad experience one night at a hotel or a restaurant.
That BB King Blues link has been great (trouble). We'll probably poke our head in there one night. Unfortunately for me it linked me to Tom Petty at the Beacon Theater. I negotiated a deal that since I'm doing Phantom she will do Petty at the Beacon.
All is good... Only to find that Petty is sold out.
Glad I can be of use
Peanut butter milkshake... That is all.

Peanut butter malt...
If you wear slippers and a throw blanket, you will be easier to find. Just a thought.
I just called Manny's Sports Bar at (212) 410-3300 and mentioned that a number of Ohio State Buckeye fans from NY are planning to watch the Buckeye game tomorrow night at 7:47 PM at Manny's. I noted that they have a CRAFT BEER MONDAY special and suggested that, since Aaron CRAFT is one of the Buckeye stars, a CRAFT BEER SPECIAL for the Buckeyes tomorrow night could be a B1G hit. She indicated that she would pass the suggestion on to her management team.
GO BUCKEYES ! Let's hope that Aaron CRAFT and the whole Buckeye team have a B1G victory tomorrow night against Arizona.
Was in NYC last year and met up with friends to watch the Kansas-TOSU Final Four game. We all know how that ended, but it was fun nonetheless.
As a Buckeye bar, it was OK, but there's got to be better sports bars. Regardless of where you end up, I always usually have fun with fellow Buckeyes.

Cleveland Orchestra Baby!! World's greatest!! The Brown's wet dream is to be them. The Ohio State University-Where the Illibuck Lives!
Yeah much better for football but last year it wasn't the "official game watch for hoops". This year it has been for the B1G tourney and March Madness
