This is why many people (and many OSU fans) are so sad to me in their failure to recognize this simple fact. You're a parent whose main concern is your child's welfare. He goes on a campus visit and comes back with pictures of him in mutual embrace with a convicted sex offender all over the internet and the parent is not supposed to be concerned about what the hell happened over there?! I'm glad Mr. Anzalone doesn't have Scarlet and Grey glasses like these classless and half-retarded wahoos trashing him and his teenage son everywhere in every story read. Now, he can work through the situation with the coaches and come to a better understanding. But i can't fault him at all for his knee-jerk reaction given what happened with his son at Ohio State.
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.

By far, the best post in this thread.
Another great, great post.
You are new. Over time, you will get a bad feeling about many, many threads. Unfortunately, to read the good posters on here, many times you get stuck reading posts from all the ding dongs. The site is still worth the money.
Why didn't he just ask his wife, instead of trashing tOSU in the media?
Why was a 16/17 year old in the bar?
How is tOSU responsable for his actions when it was an unofficial visit?
Why was Alex embracing the perv in the picture?
How is any of this resolved by de-commiting?
Why talk to ANYONE (Especially the Media) outside of family, till they calmed down and asessed who/why/how/what really happened?
The REAL world is a HARSH Place to live in, Perhaps they should have considered THAT before trying to hang tOSU out to dry in the media!
Just my thoughts-you don't have to agree.

..pay forward ........................................he made them pay...............................he'll make them pay again and again
Didn't happen @OSU, it happened off campus.
This is not an OSU issue. This is an issue of these kids shouldn't be so naive about meeting total strangers on their twitter pages. This has nothing to do with football or recruiting. They need to wise up about meeting random dudes they know nothing about. Back to recruiting...he was not on an official visit. It would be as if he just rolled into Columbus (or any campus) to party with friends and these kids hung out with some total stranger. This is NOT on OSU or the staff...they can't control this. Its unfortunate Alex's father, whether he meant to or not, made it an OSU recruiting issue.
Daddy got pissed that his son was out drinking with some of the other recruits and players. Dad didn't realize what really goes on on some of these recruiting visits. I'm sure whatever needs to be addressed by the coaching staff with the current players hosting visits will be taken care of going forward. Dad doesn't blame the coaches for something they can't control (Waugh). Waugh had befriended the players via Twitter and followed them to where they were going...not the coaches fault. Players need to be careful who they befriend on Twitter...some weird peeps out there.
Jim maybe you might be the ding dong! Instead of overreacting and making a public comment like the good Dr. did, maybe he should have taken the time to talk with the University or Urban Meyer/ staff before saying things that could damage an institution who has spent considerable time and effort and $$$$$ recruiting his son. This is in no way an attempt to minimize the concern he must have had but I find it somewhat odd that the good Dr. has not formed some kind of relationship with the coaching staff to discuss this situation and not make it a circus. This might prove to be more valuable for his son in the future. Where is the appreciation for OSU staff alerting kids to avoid this guy. I suppose you condemned the students at Virginia Tech for defending their university when everyone jumped on the bandwagon that somehow the university was responsible. BS!! I got news for you, the world is full of freak jobs . You do your best as a parent to educate your children to be aware of such behavior. I understand your frustration with some knee jerk reactions by some of the Buckey fans. I do not approve of it but they are on a somewhat limited social media. I find it more ridiculous that the good Dr. made this a public black eye for Ohio State without thinking of the consequense for the university. You would think someone so educated might have been more prudent in his statements. After all the past problems that the media has taken delight in regarding Ohio State, I for one would like to see the University stand up itself publicly get the facts straight regartding this situation. I don't care if it comes at the expense of hurting someones feelings for their naive remarks. Grow some do dads Gene.
+1 Alex came back from his night out drunk and his mom and dad were pissed at him for it. When it came out that Boren and our Heureman were there buying the drinks, it had the feel of the school and coaches supporting it. Pedophile issue was the straw that broke the camels back and the excuse for decommiting that puts his son in the least bad light (vs. the drinking). Unfortunately, puts Dr Anazlone in a bad spot legally when he blames it on TOSU, so he back tracks. This makes sense, decommiting because one out of 100,000s of people that were in the vicinity of Alex during his visit was a creepy dude does not.

I don't know. I'm actually thinking of not renewing my membership when it comes up. I think I'm better off not knowing everything that happens, and some days I get so upset that I'm sure it's not healthy.
Given our RECENT issues with outsiders having too close access to our players, one would think our team would set forth some type of security. Times have changed and now with the internet playing a role in recruiting, one would be wise to restrict certain public interactions. I understand its hard to regulate unoffical visits from recruits but still if the staff knew anything about him (Anazalone) coming, there should still be some type of safety net. I mean COME ONE where on PROBATION here people!! HELLO....Let's just watch how things change around campus because of this crap. I bet if he decides to come back to OSU and IF he becomes the next James Laurinaitis (just an example) you'd along with all the others would be wearing his jersey and singing his praises. But still with or without him the Buckeyes will win a National Champ. game..
