I said in the BCS era. Lost to the Gamecocks in 2000 and 2001, Florida in 2006 and 2011, and LSU in 2007
Is the 1 win we're counting for OSU vs SEC under Tress the vacated one vs Arkansas? So technically that would be 0-5, right? Just sayin.
I didn't realize you were talking about Coop and Fickell. Honestly, what difference does that make? Those teams have nothing to do with what I am talking about. Nebraska used to DESTROY the SEC every time they played. I don't think that would happen now. The SEC accepted Texas A and M, which was typically a middle of the road Big 12 school, and they were more than just competitive. Braxton and Johnny Football are a wash, and I think the rest of the team is in our favor. I just don't understand why you think that Bama is so great. They are flawed this year, and beatable.
I don't think anybody on here has said OSU can't get to the level of the top tier SEC schools (Bama, UGA, Florida, LSU) and most if not all of us actually believe they will. All anyone has said is they're not there yet, regardless of the 12-0 record this year. I read it as both Red and I think that Urban will recruit on the level to match those teams athlete for athlete, something that the previous administration(although they won a lot of games here) didn't do.
Bama may be beatable this year but they just made it back to the national title game with virtually a brand new defensive and offensive unit(save for McCarron and Lacy) as they lost the core of last year's team to the draft. That's the level I think Urban is going to take OSU but it will take time.

I would echo NJJ's comments. And to your point, I would say all teams this year are "beatable", but there is a difference between being beatable, and predicting a win/loss (depending on your point of view) in a particular matchup. In the end, I do think it comes down to the running game. ND HAS to be able to run effectively to open up their passing game, because I don't think Golson will be able to beat them with his arm. Conversely, I think McCarren is good enough in the pass game to use it for opening up their run game (if that was necessary). Those are the same reasons I feel they would beat us this year too..
In terms of Johnny vs Braxton, I think that Johnny has a distinct advantage in passing, and Braxton has a pretty big advantage as a runner (although the rushing yards are comparable). TAMU is the one school I don't think anyone wants to play this year. I don't think you can compare them to their B12 days. They are now a new program because they have a Heisman QB and a new coach.
