I think most fans would agree they need a RB. The Law Firm is not the answer in my opinion. I think they could use their 1st pick in the 2nd round and probably get the best RB in the draft.
My friend and I are arguing over who we'd rather see the Bengals pick, Montee Ball or Eddie Lacy.
Who would you take b/t those 2?

The CHASE is on...
Montee Ball would be a good pick in my opinion.
I agree montee ball
Lacy. I say that really only truly paying attention to him in the NCG, but in that game i saw more agility and game breaking speed than ive seen out of all the times ive watched Ball. Dont get me wrong i think Ball will have a nice pro career but the Bengals need someone who can run in between the tackles while still being able to take it to the house at any given time. To me Lacy fits that bill moreso than Ball. I think defense needs shored up more than offense though. As much as i liked Mauluga, he has been disapointing. I think first round should be a lb, especially if Johnson from Georgia is still there (wishful thinking im sure). Also safety, besides nelson who is also aging, needs work. But with the original question i wouldnt be mad at either choice but would prefer Lacy. Who Dey! And as any Cincinnati sports fan would say, we'll get em next year! Lol
I would much rather have Lacey the ball. I wouldn't take either of them in the first round. I hope would be to trade down a few spots and get the safety from Florida and then Lacy with an upgrade in the second.
Montee Ball is essentially the same type of running back as the law firm. I would take either Gio Bernard out of UNC or Joseph Randle out of Oklahoma State. They should be able to wait until the 2nd Round 2 pick or the Round 3 pick to take a running back.
Safety and Linebacker should be higher on the "needs" list.
Of course they also have $55M in cap space, so their draft board could shift with the signing of some free agents.
Immediate needs will be re-signing Andre Smith and Michael Johnson and locking up Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlop to longer deals before their rookie deals run out.
Ball has taken a lot of wear and tear at Wisconsin. Who knows how much more he can take, especially in an NFL setting. Lacy is good, but has also been running behind an O-Line of first round NFL picks in college.
I've seen quite a few mocks that have Giovanni Bernard from UNC going to the Bengals. I much rather improve the OLine, Linebackers and Secondary early on and then focus on RB.
Lacy. I think the bengals need to use two of the first 3 picks on rb and wr, in that order. Need the rb first pick. We need a no 2 wr to compliment Green. We arent that far off
I agree with this, the 3 safeties (Vaccaro from TX, Reid from LSU and Elam from UF) can all play and we have a huge need at safety. Hopefully they can trade with a desperate team trying to trade back into the 1st round to get someone like Matt Barkley who is not going to be drafted in the 1st wave of qb's.
At WR they should get Wallace from the Steelers he is a free agent. The Bengals have enough money under the cap to pay him top dollar. If Mike Brown wants to get fans excited and interested he needs to sign a top free agent.

Bengals must address linebacker with their first pick if a viable option is their. Maeluga just isn't cutting it. He is a nice player, but they need better. I like Green Ellis but he just doesn't have the speed. He had a handful of runs that he was caught from behind that would of been tds if he had the speed. I think Lacy would be a good pick in the 2nd round.
They are aging at corner besides Kirkpatrick, so that is something to look at as well. I would like to see them add a deep threat receiver also. Jones may already be that guy, though he wasn't used as it.
I hope they get one of those safeties in the first round.
I have to strongly disagree with this statement. Before Sanu went down he was becoming quite a player. Jones also started to come on at the end of the yr. Another offseason with Dalton, both of them should be stellar. Add them with Green and Gresham, and thats a pretty solid receiving core. Only spots of need on offense to me are OL and RB. Defense strongly needs lb and safety.
How many here honestly believe that Marvin is gonna use a high round draft pick to draft a WR. He took AJ Green two years ago and last year took Marvin Jones and Sanu. All these picks were within the first five rounds. I think they are more likely to sign a veteran to go with the young guys than to add a young WR to an already young WR corps.
I also believe that Jones and Sanu are legit and could turn out to be pretty good pros to compliment AJ.
If I got my wish (and the draft board played out perfectly), I would go with the following:
1st round - Barrett Jones - Bama (can play any OL position and is a beast)
2nd round (Raiders pick) - Eric Reid (S)- LSU
2nd round - Arthur Brown (LB) - Kansas State
3rd round - Joseph Randle (RB) - Oklahoma State

The offense needs to improve. They had several games that were very win-able but the offense let them down. Besides a linebacker, I would be I think a wr and rb would be well served in their first 3 picks.
I most definitely agree w/ the re-signing of Johnson and Atkins, but I could do without Andre Smith. Maybe I don't pay enough attention to the line, but I've never been impressed with him.
I think it depends on how much money he is going to want. If they don't resign him, the number 1 draft need automatically shifts to OT and with Lewan and Matthews going back to school the OT talent pool in the 1st round dipped a little so maybe going after someone like Fluker would be an option.
I must say I have done a lot of research with the draft but haven't looked at many players around the league that will be free agents, so there may be a OT out there they could sign.
I'd be ok with that draft through 3 rounds. I agree Jones is a beast and that Brown kid from KSU was all over the place in the Fiesta Bowl vs the Ducks.
Eddie Lacy!!! The second I heard he was coming out I wanted him in Black and Orange!
Giovanni Bernard is the running back I want.
I would disagree, we need a MLB. Ray is too damn slow and can't cover worth a dog turd. RB's are easy to get find, and very short life span in NFL. In answer to your question, Lacy over Ball, think he is not strong enough. Lacy=stud. We are not many players away from a really elite defense.
Ball.....but I think we all know they are going to take Teo!!
Ball is the better prospect imo.
Lacy has turf toe and that never goes away. That is an injury that will plague him his entire career.
