Alright folks.. I'm not a frequent poster at all. In fact, I'm more of a than anything else. I'm sure the same can be said for many members.
I'm going to do something a bit different today, for the first time all season. Actually, for the first time ever being that I joined in the offseason. I'm going to make a bold statement about the game tomorrow. Before anyone passes judgement, I'm a well educated fan, and I typically always try to step back and take a non-homer, objective view of our beloved Buckeyes in any and all situations. That being said, here is my prediction:
I remember two years ago up in Wisconsin, we came out uninspired and dug ourselves as deep of a hole as we could before we realized we were actually playing a football game. That was one of the worst losses I've ever dealt with. It's not that we were outplayed by a better team, but we were outdone in emotion, effort, preparedness, and so on... This evening game makes me think back to that game, and here's what I believe.
I truly believe that we are going to make a statement tomorrow. I don't think that this team, coached by Urban Meyer, will be out-prepared, out-hustled, out-coached, or out-played by Penn State. Do I think it will be a close game, yes. Do I think that we will put it away in the end? Absolutely. I think that second half/OT effort we witnessed last week by our defense is more of the showing we should expect for the remainder of the season. As many others have said, it's tough to get up for an Indiana or a Purdue, no matter the time or place. Excuse? Absolutely not. However, I think that the D (coaches and players) were given a wake up call by Urban when he had his "meetings" with them, and I don't think we will be seeing much more of that porous, bend but don't break D. I do expect Penn State to move the ball on us, but I don't expect them to repeatedly visit the endzone, and I surely don't expect them to put many "3 pointers" on the board with that kicking unit. I look for a tight game, maybe 21-14 or so (good guys), before a big play - maybe special teams, maybe Braxton in some form - to blow the game open and cause some separation to begin. Penn State will ride the emotion train for a quarter and a half or so, and then the better athletes with the better coaches take control of the game. Final score? I'm going to assume we win by 14-20 points.
Don't necessarily take it to the bank, but here's to this prediction being accurate Saturday night

I agree with everything except the final score. I think we pull away in the 4th quarter. 38-17.....GO BUCKS!
Don't tempt me... I'm very opinionated!
So you're 1 point higher than my max spread. I think that's still pretty close to an agreement!
