Because you watch Breaking Bad, doesn't mean you are glorifying meth. Same way if you watched Sopranos, you weren't glorifying organized crime or if you watched The Wire, you weren't glorifying ghetto drug wars. Look, I am a good husband and father who works in finance and likes watching soccer, baseball and swimming practice and loves watching football in the fall. Vince Gilligan AND David Chase couldn't get 15 people to watch a show on my life if they casted Lindsay Lohan as my wife.
I'd bet you had a personal issue close to you with meth....that tends to be why people speak out on these things. I am sorry if thats true, but keep your personal issues out of my entertainment. Just dont watch or shut off your cable. I got a 5 in AP Chemistry but I don't see myself cornering the northeast meth trade any time soon because Walter White did it. Breaking Bad isnt pushing a single person towards using meth that weren't going that way anyway.
Awesome episode again tonight. Continues to solidify it's position in top tv shows of all time. Amazing that they have been able to capture attention with these long drawn out dialogues. I was glued to the TV during that long taped confession.
Was anyone else just going nuts last night while watching the confession? Blackmailing Hank and the entire DEA. AWESOME!!
This show just blows my mind.
Absolutely. Just think about how long that segment was. You would think you your attention would wander during that.
You have your opinion and I have mine. You can justify your lust for entertainment however you like, but that doesn't change the fact that it is glorification. I don't like the Sopranos or the Wire either. Sheeple just following the herd.
Just out of curiosity, what TV shows/Movies do you enjoy watching?
How much of the show have you actually watched?
Eh I'm not going to dive into this argument since I can tell which way it's headed, but I will chime in and say that I watched every episode of The Wire, and not one single time did "glorification" ever come to mind. If anything, The Wire goes out of its way to show how messed up things like drug use, the gangster life, and everyday life in the ghetto can be.
Oooohhhhh....so cool to be a non-conformist. But....If being a big enough college football fan to have a premium message board account isn't conformist, then I don't know what is. Maybe you should close your account so you don't surrender to your lust for the neandrathal violence of football. I guess you are only on here for the soccer and swimming Bucknuts news. Where are those threads btw?
I'm still trying to figure out how Breaking Bad in any way "glorifies" meth... I've seen every single episode. If anything, the show adequately presents itself as an extreme measure taken by a desperate man that ultimate leads to his demise as well as the demise of many.
Could you please provide specifics on how the show "glorifies" meth?
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.
- Frank Lloyd Wright (1868-1959)
I agree 100%. Clearly you haven't watched one episode of Breaking Bad or you don't know what "glorification" means.
It doesn't. In fact it does the opposite. Breaking Bad shows how it ruins lives not just of the users, cookers and dealers, but those around them and the community.
OMG, I've been herded into glorifying "the consumption of human flesh" by watching "The Walking Dead"? I feel so dirty, what am I to do now? Hmmmmm, guess it's time to go trolling for someone/something to throw on the grill....
Don't knock it til you try it
