I will provide a little further update...

Glad you're home safe from the sandbox. Thanks for the service!
Jarhead, I just started reading this and would like to ask you to confirm the mailing address to which items can be sent. Sorry to ask, but this thread is long and over 6 months old. I'd like to send you some stuff for those guys in remote areas. I know they have DVD players, can you also confirm which game systems they have? Thanks man.
Forever Bump!!!! Thank you all!!!
damn this got unsticky'd. ToTheTop!!
How does this thread get unsticky'ed.
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
maybe they can only have so many 'pins' at a time. Any staff listening out there who can fix it?
You can send stuff to me and I will include it in the next shipment of packages to go out.

If you'd rather send direct yourself (I got such a request by PM within the last week), send me a PM and I can provide you the APO addresses of anywhere between 1-4 units we are currently supporting. (One of those addresses actually supports 4 small remote camps, so really it's 7 units we are supporting).
As far as I know, all units have DVD players and generators. I'm not sure about game systems (especially at small remote spec-ops camps). However I've reached out to my contacts and will hopefully hear back about if/which game systems they have.
As soon as I hear anything, I'll pass it along here.
My man Duane, fights this fight for us. I'd urge you to thank him by PM for his help (not complain, because he definitely is not the one unpinning us).
He has gone to bat for us repeatedly with the folks at 247, etc. who (understandably) are simply responding to complaints. (To the point where I am/was afraid he'd either get in trouble or screw up work relationships.)
Apparently, the problem is that it's a pain in the butt to scroll past pinned threads when you use a mobile device to access bucknuts. So those users regularly complain when more than 1 or 2 threads is/are pinned. 247's response is to unpin as much as possible and tell our mods not to pin stuff...especially anything not team-related.
My position is that we're talking about buckeyes deployed and fighting for us. We (a group of bucknuts users) care about them and this thread/project to support them is part of what makes us a community. And unpinning this thread so that it is likely to fall off the 1st page hurts that effort. Between the community effect and the good PR bucknuts is getting from being named on the care packages being passed around among all the buckeyes in Afghanistan, I think we deserve some special consideration.
Plus I personally have about as much compassion for people who browse the internet from a phone as I do for people who use a screwdriver to pound nails.
Anyway, Duane is our ace in the hole. I trust he'll re-pin us soon.
I'm happy to send the stuff that I have in mind (dvd movies) to you so you can better determine how to dole it out. I do have some games I would be happy to send if I know if any of the outfits have access to any systems. Sadly, I have spent my money on pretty much all of the systems over the years including PS 1-3 and xbox 1 & 360. Just say the word and I'll get some games together. I'd be honored to give the guys / girls something to do when the have some downtime. Thanks for what you are doing.
Btw Ed, I'm also active on scout. If you would like, I could post something over there about what you are doing and invite people to PM me for your address if they want to help. There is a definite pro-servicemen vibe over there and I am sure you'd hear from some people. Again, just say the word and I'll put something up on the premium board.

Please feel free. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. It's a good cause.
As I said, we are currently supporting 7 units (at least 5 of these are Spec Ops camps). And will be adding an 8th (Company A of 1st Battalion 148th Infantry Reg of Ohio Nat. Guard) that just deployed as soon as we get their APO address.
So any support is appreciated.
If anyone wants to support the cause, they can either mail stuff or money to the address I gave or send it via paypal to my wife's account...firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let me know if you need/want any other info.
Good Morning Jar,
The message has been conveyed onto the other board. FYI, I did take pieces of your initial post from 6 months ago & use your words to describe your invitation for Buckeye fans to help. I liked your words better than anything I would say. I did not use your name or provide your mailing address, I simply invited anyone interested to PM me so I could pass along your contact info.
I have another question I'd like to ask you privately, so I intend to contact you if I can (not sure how to do that on 247 but I'm going to give it a try). Keep up the good work & I will keep you posted if/when people contact me.
To send me a PM, just click the inbox (located at the upper right of screen) -or- click the envelope located just to the right of any of my Avatar on any of my posts.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I received my first reply regarding game systems. At this point we know that at least one unit has an Xbox 360 game system they play.
I'll send Chicagobuck38 a pm to make sure he gets the message. However, if anybody else wants to send games too, I'll be glad to forward them to our troops as well.
And now I've received a 2nd reply from a parent of one of our troops.
I'm told the latest unit to deploy has 3 games systems: Xbox 360, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3.
So again, if anyone has games for those systems that they'd like to donate, I will be happy to include them in our care packages.
Sorry for the delay on updates. I'm in the middle of inventory taking, valuations and taxes for my business. It's a massive pain in the ass.
However, I have gotten about half a dozen boxes packed with a similar amount still to pack. Then I'll get out the shipment, update the books and post financial updates.
BTW, I honestly could care less about up/down votes. However, I notice somebody downvoted my previous post. If it was a mistake, no sweat. If it was a problem they have with me, no sweat (although it would be nice to discuss our difference). However, if you've got a problem with this project, our troops (or I guess sending them games to play) then you can kiss my ass.
Great - I noticed it got re-pinned. Thanks Duane!!
Jarhead, you're absolutely right - there is a very good reason for this thread to be pinned. It boggles my mind to think that somebody can complain about the fraction of a second it takes to scroll past one extra thread, compared to the sacrifice of our men and women in the military. Maybe the whiners can use that time to think about the people risking their lives on a constant basis to give the general population the freedom to worry about mundane things like their cellphones.
