A little late getting this up, was making dinner .... chance to move on to the finals!!!
EJ already puts the US on the board 1-0
TOON TOON! BLACK N WHITE! TOON TOON! BLACK N WHITE!
US thoroughly dominating already .. Holden should have had a PK with an elbow to the face
I'm not a fan of Pedoya. His touch drives me nuts. He's cost the US two really good chances with bad first touches.
Love thia teams new approach though. Pass affectvely and short and use the give and go's. Rarely the long ball game we used to play. Players are finally buying into Klinsmann and its working big time.
He's not my favorite either. His touch is very suspect at times
As I type this, he gives LD an assist for our second goal!!!!!!!!!!!
Beauty pass to LD, who takes it off his chest n toe touches it in for a goal
Sorry Bedoya. Not pedoya. Torres complains more then nba players. Just play
From above the field looks fine. But when they show shots from field level..wow it looks bad.
Parkhurst is putting in a good shift on the right side so far; really pushing forward. He, LD, and Bedoya really hooking up well
When everyone runs out...we run in. Support your firemen.
Good, quick half so far .. Honduras not really showing me much.
EJ really showing us something during the Gold Cup as well .. I know it's only CONCACAF opponents but I'm really excited for the rest of WC qualifying and the WC next summer.
2-1 .. goal off a corner
Quick strike to score again .. 3-1 USA
Goal by LD
Set piece not corner. But basically the same.
Ok Bedoya, you get credit for a great great pass there. US answers quickly. 3-1
Left the room, just heard they scored haha
Bedoya assisting on both Donovan goals. Good shift as a shaky for 5-10 minutes for him.
We are looking good !!! We have tons of talent we just need a few more young Americans to blossom into superstars for euro clubs. Def need more young defenders
USA playing lights out lately. Fun to watch. Beating Mexico's ass in the final would be the cherry on top.
Man of the match- Landy Cakes
Honorable mention- Bedoya
Eddie Johnson is a load but he is not a 90 minute player. Pretty good game.
I hope no other player from this squad is a world cup starter.
Brek Shea = Alexi Lalas. Pretender
Torres- You'd never hear his name if he didn't take corner kicks.
Goodson- Shakey. Even when he has time, he's booting the ball aimlessly up the field like a middle schooler would do. Gave Honduras a golden opportunity that Raimondo brilliantly saved. Not to mention his blunder on the Honduras goal.
Raimondo- Good Keeper but he's 34.
Besler- Nice pass to Bedoya but he's way closer to Goodson than he is to Beckham in serving up long balls.
Beckerman- Meh. They ball movement was better when he was in but he doesn't excite me at all.
Holden- Why are you letting a 30 something player get his feet back under him and taking up valuable minutes from someone much younger who would do as well? Holden is not there and his best days are past him.
Parkhurst and Beasley are huge liabilities on the outside and bring very little on the offensive attack.
If this wasn't Mexico's worst team in years, I'd be expecting trouble.
Dude. Have you ever even watched a game before? I only agreed with 2, maybe 3 statements in this whole paragraph.
Alexi Lalas was a defender. Brek Shea is a wing. How can you even compare the two?
Torres has been one of the more impressive players in this Gold Cup.
Goodson I agree with, though he has been pretty solid.
Besler is the future of center back. He has been nothing but impressive, Klinsmann says this himself. Also, why the hell would you want a center back to be serving up long balls? They need to be able to outlet the ball to the midfield. Not kick the ball 40 yards like kids did in rec-league.
Beckerman does not impress me either.
Holden is 27, so I have no idea where the hell you got that from. He is going to be a factor in the WC.
You apparently didn't watch the game against El Salvador, Beasley was in on the attack CONSTANTLY.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but you clearly do not know what you are talking about.
dang, i missed it
Oh and the field sucked. Glad that no players were injured.
Brek Shea is not a European level player and neither was Alexi Lalas.
Torres has not impressed me at all. He occupies a position that is all.
Besler has been doing the same clearances that Goodson is prone to doing but not quite as much. Both central defenders have tried for a lot of long ball passing. Besler is slightly more accurate than Goodson but that's not saying much. Defensively, he seems better than Goodson.
Well, Holden might be able to make it back but he hasn't been very impressive thus far.
Beasley concerns me because his first responsibility is defense. He is neither strong enough nor fast enough for world class strikers. He will get exposed big time in Brazil.
I've played 30+ years including some time in Germany. I know soccer.
Rooting for Mexico to win? I am...
In Klinsmann's new offense he has been trying to install, the left back is more or less an extra attacking winger. This was one of the first things he implemented. He wants Beasley to be up in the attack. Also, Beasley has the best pace of any of the U.S. defenders..speed is not something anybody worries about with him.
I simply do not buy that you played anything other than the old, ugly style of soccer because almost none of what you are saying is true. I say this because comments from Klinsmann himself directly contradict yours.
Just got my tix for the finals here in chi town!! Please win Mexico.. Would be epic
An attacking left back is fine when you're playing against these inept Central American attacks that allow you to do that. Just wait until you play a team that has an actual attack and let's see how much of a role Beasley going to play in our attack.
The Beasley experiment at left back is going to a monumental failure in Brazil. I've already seen enough of it to make that call.
He has some speed, sure, but that is not his natural position and his speed in the open field does not translate into quickness on the defensive end. The left and right backs have to hips almost like corner backs in football. He's just not that player. He will not be able to take the beating either. If you are watching the same games that I am, you'll see him on the ground more than any other player clutching something or other. He gets beat up when he actual has to defend. You'll see soon enough.
I've played on german, mexican, middle eastern, african and british/irish teams. Which are you suggesting play old, ugly styles of soccer? First division in SF and Phoenix, Cologne second division. Long-time certified referee and coach. Etc.
Gigantic fail by Mexico...what else is new?
