Any chance Philly makes a push to land TP, since he would fit a Kelly kind of system?
I think landing Collin Kaepernick (spelling) and LaMichael James from the 49ers would be the ideal fit. Now, obviously the 9ers wouldn't do that..........
We may have lost the battle......but not the war.
Yeah.. no chance of that happening lol.. But maybe.. just maybe TP will get a legit shot at this "new" wave style NFL offense
Uhuh. I agree. It's just that the 49ers kind of remind me of Oregon.
I don't disagree.. but not a chance that any of those guys leave the niners.. especially if they get to the SB
Yep. What other players do you think could fit in the Eagles' system along with Pryor?
Do you think they could get Posey cheap, after his recent injury? That might be a gamble, but he's a playmaker and can stretch the field.
Chip must have just received the memo from the ncaa that "O" program in deep doo-doo. Boy, he and Carroll sure know how to avoid the consquences of their mess and come away with big $$ and an NFL HC job. What a disgrace. Least the Browns' ownership saw through his nonsense; maybe there is hope at the 'ole dog pound!!
I think he has the talent.. but doubtful.. considering he didn't show a lot this year. Hopefully he can get another shot in Texas next year and make an impact. Vick would be perfect!!(10 years ago) lol .. I don't know about any free-agents or expiring contracts this year that the QB would fit that kind of system... TP stands out to me obviously(which I think Raider nation will hold onto him to try and set up a similar RGIII system soon) Maybe.. Tebow.. lol... Alex smith to some degree since Kap is taking his spot.. and he played for Meyer's system??
Hmm... What about Tavon Austin? If they brought Pryor and Austin in, I think they'd be making some headway.
True.. not sure what pick they have this year... if they aren't able to land a mobile QB via free agency, sign-trade, they might have to play it out with VIck a year or two.. and draft Brax.. or his Oregon boy if he has the chance
I'd say it depends on what the Raiders think of Terry, He played pretty well against San Diego. He needs a lot of work, but he made that Offense go against the Chargers.
Mariotta (spelling) looks like a solid fit like you've mentioned. I've seen him play a few times and you can color me impressed.
No - he wants to win football games.
You can't handle the truth
Chip would have to teach him the zone read..... I don't think we ever actually ran it where he would make a read here. Seemed like it was pre-determined who would get the ball in the huddle...
The Browns didnt see through anything. He wanted nothing to with them. They dont have anywhere near the talent needed to implement even part of his offense.
Chip said in an interview this fall that he wants a passing qb that can also run not a running qb that can also pass. No sure that TPs passing skills are up to the level to still be able to throw at a 65% completion rate for 30+ attempts a game.
I actually think Alex Smith would be a nice fit for Kelly's system. It's a misnomer that he always had a running QB at Oregon. The premise behind Kelly's system is to keep the defense vanilla through (1) pace and (2) quick decisions.
I don't know if TP could effectively run the system. It's about quick decisions and he still struggles to read and react the defense. You need quick athletes at the skill positions, but having a QB who makes good decisions (see Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, RGIII) is essential.
Kelly is a good fit in Philly. I think he will be a success there. People are focusing too much on "his" system as if he is bringing it to the NFL. For anyone who has watched football, it has been in the NFL for nearly a decade.
Cleveland Orchestra Baby!! World's greatest!! The Brown's wet dream is to be them. The Ohio State University-Where the Illibuck Lives!
Lifelong Eagles fan here... he did not say that today, I just listened to the entire presser.
Perception is his QBs run a lot in his 'system'...reality is they do not. Eagles hired Kelly because he is a great football coach that relates well to players, people, and is an innovator, a different mold. He will be successful becuase he can and will adapt to his personnel. He really likes Foles, and while I do not claim to know how he will shape his roster, I can guarantee you this much... Vick is done, gone, out of a job in Philly. He is owed 16 million, is now 33 years old, no longer has speed to scare, cannot pick up a pre snap blitz, cannot protect the football, cannot protect himself, and cannot make good decisions in the red zone. His football career is finished in Philadelphia, you can count on that.
Tempo will be quicker no doubt, but he will put the players he has into the best situation to succeed. He will not run a throwing QB that can't run. He will not ask a running QB to throw. By all accounts, he seems like he is 2 steps ahead when it comes to the evolution of the game and where it is going and how teams will adjust and how to succeed when that happens... his presser was very informative and I had no idea he seems to have a great personality, a philly mentality.
Great hire by Philly. He also said his Defense will by attacking and fast, which was music to this Eagle fans' ears.
Sounds like Dickrod right before he replaced Michigan LBs with players the size of BIG safeties, Michigan RBs with players the size of middle school WRs, and Michigan pocket passing QBs with MAC level RBs who have the ability to throw as well as players in the lingerie league.
I actually love the hire and I am very intrigued how Chip Kelly's offense is going to work on a full time basis in the NFL. However, name me one coach who says that his scheme doesn't put his players in the best position to succeed and highlights his players' strengths? Pat Shurmur used to say this even when he was giving Trent Richardson 6 carries per game and calling plays for Weeden to throw 5 yard curls 45 times per game. I'm from Missouri, show me. It is going to take more than a well worded press conference to prove to me the guy is a certified genius....

I didn't say he said that today. He said it this fall when talking about his system at Oregon.
Also the qb at Oregon only averaged 7-8 carries a game this past season so those who think he needs a running qb to make his system go are off base.
