I have mixed emotions about him I have called him cowturd for a while now but I heard him today and i agreed with him 100%. He was talking about all the people and how they are so outraged that college players are not paid and then he talked about how he has been saving since his kids were born for their college fund. Then talking about how all of the normal people have debts forever because of college loans and that a free education is no joke.
Then he said something we should all think long and hard before responding or even discussing this issue........ We are so backwards in our society when we care more about football players than the 18 yr old soldiers that pick up a gun and die for our country and basically get paid shit wages. I am with Colin on this one, let the players get a free education and a great tool to get a job if the don't make the nfl and lets get the colleges to donate 25% of the jersey proceeds to combat military personnel and veterans.
+1...I didn't see the show, but he's right on. We put these kids up on a pedestal and think they deserve so much more, when the reality is they already have it made. They just need to be ok with taking their compensation as education, and food, and training for a few years before getting paid to play a GAME or using their free education and connections to get a job. How can you complain about that?
And before I get flamed about how the universities make so much money from selling jerseys, just remember that you are the one plopping down 60+ bucks (pun intended) for that jersey.
Right on, The wall street Journal had an article about Manzel being the "tipping point" for paying these kids. The Trust fund baby who was breaking the rules and taking money to buy rims for the Mercedes his dad bought him is the "tipping point"? The irony of that is absolutely amazing to me.
We are backwards in our country when we allow our young men and women to be at war for nearly 12 years and don't ask any questions about why we went there and why aren't we gone yet?
The only thing you need to think long and hard about is why are you listening to some guy on TV and not thinking for yourself!
If it wasn't for the idolization of athletes, Colin Cowherd wouldn't be getting paid so handsomely for talking about sports.
I was one of those 18 year olds who got those shit wages...1983 $565 a month.
"I simply can not have Degeneration X (Rant participants) roaming the hallways and going upper tank in my office"..Cdiddy
Well said. But let's quite calling these players ''kids''. I joined the USMC when I was 17 and in combat by 20. No one ever called me a kid. If I screwed up,I would have a staff NCO up my ass and treating me like a grown ass man. So these players know exactly what they are doing. I am cool with how these players are treated, but in no way do they deserve more then what they are getting now.
The dude is usually right on. He talks the truth and the truth hurts sometimes for a lot of people.
During the first Iraq war a soldier's family was given a one time payment of $12,500 if they died in the line of duty. We have since increased that payment and I'm not sure to what but it's still embarrassing (this excludes any life ins. etc.) It's amazing how much national discussion there can be about players but real world bravery and sacrifice is ignored and given lip service on holidays.
He basically said, You guys are stupid, while he's laughing his ass off to the bank."
There are way more people in this world willing to take a bullet for their government than can play sports at an elite level.
That is simply reality.
Cowherd gets it. Flat out.
Sorry Bro wasn't to willing to take a fuck'n bullet for the government.....Just for all those who love the God given free will given them at birth and the chance to lay waste to those willing to trample on it was I willing to lay mine down for no matter where they were from.
If I'm going to die for a word, my word is poontang.
I'm not commenting about the free market or capitalism, whether it's reality or theory it's absurd and fucking embarrassing as a human being.
worthy cause IMHO!!!
Exactly, which is why athletes get paid more than soldiers.
Wow, we are a so easily led astray! This has nothing to do with military and there are no comparisons...none! If you are just bent on talking about inequities involving the troops, maybe you should talk about all the 23 yr olds I see downtown everyday wearing a suit while the poor kids go to war!
This is really about the hypocrisy of the NCAA. They are making money off these athletes popularity and likenesses. They should donate the money HS programs or something.
Ooh Rah....take care of those serving that are taking care of us...
Actually he said nothing like that.
