I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.

You're right. All I am doing is speculating on Fick's decision making abilities.
Also, just to be clear, I am not saying we should fire Fickell. I am saying that everyone who has written off Grant is citing the fact that he coaches won't play him. His position coach, and the D coordinator, is the same guy that couldn't see that both Bauserman and Storm Klein shouldn't be starting.
Lastly, if moving Boren to linebacker was Fick's decision, why didn't he rep him there last year when Klein was playing poorly?
Once again, I don't think you understand what you are suggesting...
"the same guy that couldn't see that both Bauserman and Storm Klein shouldn't be starting."
How do you know this??? How do you know Fickell was watching Bauserman and was making the decision to keep him out there? Who overrode Fickell to finally start Braxton Miller? How do you know that person did so? Your logic doesn't compute. You are suggesting that Fickell is the one telling Bollman not to start Braxton but to keep playing Bauserman. Thats absurd and please tell me how you know this?
As far as Storm Klein, he did start Storm. In fact, it seems the coaches all believed Storm as a better option than Grant. And having to bring over Boren is an even greater indictment. Think about it, that means that Grant was so bad that they decided they would rather bring a guy repping at Fullback his entire Buckeye career over to LB instead.
Your logic is immensely flawed. Stop for a moment and think about what you are implying and what that means. You are taking simple observations and running in a crazy direction with it.
I have no idea what C. grant will bring next season, but I do know the young man seems into during the games, interacting with teammates, firing the crowd up etc..so I don't see a "poor me" kid or a pouting kid which I like! seeing how he hasn't transferred, spouted off on twitter etc..I'm throwing him in the Rod Smith, long way back, but will be a FAN Favorite when it's all said and done!!
If he doesn't know what to do, how can he play? Storm Klein was the next option. You can only play who you have. Zach Boren is one of the best fullbacks in college football, last year he was needed on offense greatly as they ran many plays with a fullback. The current offense does not need a fullback.
Bollman made the call to start Bauserman, he was the OC. Either way, Bauserman played fine against Akron as did Miller. Miller was rumored to be injured against Toledo and he had several fumbles against Miami. So it's not like he wasn't getting on the field.
I don't buy the argument Bauserman was fine against Akron. Somehow, Bauserman won the starting job in the coaches eyes, in practice, over Braxton Miller. That should never have happened.
I'll give you the possibility that Boren may have been more valuable at fullback last year, although its close with how many big plays Klein gave up.
Come on. Fickell did not "torpedo" Grant. Grant could not grasp the D. He is not alone but he was one of the few Sophs.
Also, blaming Fickell for Bauserman is silly. Fickell was not running the Offense.
I expect to see other bodies at MLB. Not saying Grant wont get a chance but it is hardly Fickell's fault here.
This thread is killing you.
Hope he gets a chance to develop this spring. He has the tools but needs to understand his responsibilities with what the defensive line is doing and not try to do it all himself.
Back in spring ball, if we remember, Meyer mentioned several times that they needed Grant to step up and be the starting mlb. Since he was listed as the starter then, that tells me they tried to have him learn on the job and it didn't happen.
I don't Curtis at all, so I would never question his intelligence. But sometimes some people do not learn as fast as others. MLB is a tough position in college. If he came from a defense where all he did was attack and have no other responsibilities, then I'm sure it was tough on him. Not to mention he was a freshman being coached by Vrabel who was also a first year coach.
Were you at the practices? How do you know that should of never happened?
Look man, I'm not sure you understand the spirit of these boards. I don't think my opinions are more valuable than Luke Fickell's, or anyone else that gets paid to make the decisions we are discussing.
I am simply countering the many posters who assert that Grant will not play at MLB for OSU. Those posters are asserting opinions the same way I am.
If the only people that were allowed to bring forth opinions on this board were coaches, then ... it would be awesome because we could all read about the coaches thoughts on all the players, but it would not be a message board.
Man, I have been posting on these boards for a decade. I know the spirit of the boards much better than you. I know exactly what you are doing. I am debating your logic. THAT is the spirit of these boards. Healthy debate. Nobody said you weren't allowed to bring opinions. I completely agree you should throw out your opinions. But when they are flawed, we are going to comment.
If you don't like people disagreeing with you, you probably should rethink posting. You are welcome to post all you want. But keep in mind, when you do so, other people have opinions as well. And they are going to respond. Often in disagreement.
I never said only coaches can post. I hate the argument of "the coaches know more". And I never made that argument here. If you actually took a moment to thoughtfully read my posts like I read yours, you would see that. Instead all I see is a person running away from their own statements and crying foul along the way just because another poster had the audacity to call out your flawed logic.
Its ok to have opinions. We come here to discuss them. If there is more to your logic you aren't stating, then please share. But the argument you made, the way you presented it and the lack of ANYTHING to support your points basically invites the criticism you are receiving.
If you want to continue to debate, I am here. I love to debate. I can keep going. But you should probably understand that neither of us are ever going to "win". So if you are waiting for some "a ha" moment from the entire board to all of a sudden see your logic and declare you brilliant, you are in for some disappointment. If you understand this and understand that no matter what you put out there a ton of people will disagree, then I am having trouble understanding the post I just quoted. Because its not the post of someone who comes to the boards for healthy debate. It looks like running away.
Rest assured, you don't need to educate me on the boards. It's likely the other way around.
