If Grant could play it would have surfaced by now, ever wonder how Boren can play after switching from offense, because he can play.
Actually the Sabino reference of him finally getting it I don't buy. Does anyone really think Sabino would have seen playing time on the OSU teams 2002-2010? No way does he see the field.
Move on with Grant, seems like alot of posters would be asking Urban to force him out of the program. I have read that many times with other players, you know, SEC style.
I for one don't believe that because this is college not the pros.

Thats kind of the point... If Grant was the best option on the field, if he was a better option than Klein or Boren or whoever, then he would have been on the field. Simple as that...
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.

which is why I originally told the OP he is clueless. No sense in ever getting into it with someone who is clearly clueless and states flawed opinions over facts
Sheer volume of posts does not equate to a better knowledge of the spirit of posting, or greater knowledge period. Congrats though . . . on all the posts.
The "ah ha" moment will come for one of us when C. Grant either starts all middle backer next year, or doesn't.
That must mean that Bauserman was better than B. Miller for the first four games last year.
I agree with playmea...this is all very simple. This will be C Grant's 3rd year in the program and he can't smell the field even on ST's. THAT and THAT alone should tell you everything you need to know.
Like Bill Parcells always says...Spend enough time with the player, and the player will tell you exactly who he is.
End of story. Grant has been a HUGE disappointment.
Who said I had more knowledge than you... Keep trying if you like. I never said anything about volume of posts. I said I have been doing this for a decade. I never said you don't know about the spirit of the board. But I do know more than you evidently.
Let me know when you feel like debating my points instead of running away or deflecting...
No, it means Sic or Bollman thought so at the time. Then it suggests there was a time during the season where that immediately became a different case.
Hence, Grant never became a better option this season. But last season, Braxton did become a better option.
Refer back to my original response, feel free to criticize Fickell on not vetoing Bollman earlier. But Fickell was not the decision maker on who should start at QB last season. Nor should he be. He knows squat about coaching QB's by comparison.
"Funny, but you still did not answer my question."
I did answer your question.
The starting MLB will be someone other than Curtis Grant.
You are way too hung up on Bauserman. We all get to see the games, but we don't get to see the practices. These coaches have to go off what they see in practice , at least early in the season. Now some players can't take what they do on the practice field and translate that into the game. Maybe Bauserman looked fins in practice, Miller could have been struggling. Klein could have been doing all the right things in practice, but not getting it done on the field.
That's the same situation with some of the young players this year, maybe they know what to do, but need to learn to recognize to do it quicker in a game situation. Or they have all that down, but need to learn some techniques that they didn't use in high school, or got away without using because they were one of the best on the field.
You know what is almost as alrming as him being handed the starting job only to be usurped by Klein and then our starting FB?
We had 4 kids (Murray, Wood, Bogard, Dominicone) who were kickoff coverage specialists all missing the same set of games, yet Grant was called on to fill one of those spots.
Are you able to se the trend here?
I always questioned if there was something more to this. Maybe the staff said absolutely no pt until you show improvement in "x" and "z". Undisclosed punishment maybe? Or maybe he just hit his peak in high school and is one of those players that don't make it. It happens, unfortunately, but happens.
"I always questioned if there was something more to this. Maybe the staff said absolutely no pt until you show improvement in "x" and "z"."
Seems logical though he did have a role on the FG block team.
There is something not adding up.
I realize he is only in year 2 but for him not to se the feild even in mop up time (think Illinois) on D or ST coverage units is just mind blowing.
If something unknown is not going on, he is trending towards an all-time busts.
We have had 5 stars who would be deemed busts but in those cases most of the time it was injuries (Dandrea), off-feild issues (Derek Morris) , or getting beaten out by superior players (Smith for Zwick, Hawk for Dandrea)after seeing playing time issues.
Grant fits none of these categories.
There have been players who have flourished as upperclassman, who came out of nowhere.
But these kids were behind really good players.
They at least were productive Special Teamers.
It is very odd. If he is half the athlete he was made out to be you would expect him to be a very good special teams player at the very least. If you can run, tackle well and maintain your lane you should be able to be on kickoff and punt coverage.
Agree in general. People just don't want to accept sometimes that a highly rated recruit they liked isn't ever going to amount to anything, Sabino being one and some how someway I am seeing people here refer to him as a success story... Sabino should have never started here, it's an indictment on the current talet level at LBer at OSU right now.
Grant not getting a whiff this season isn't an indictment on fickells coaching (maybe people might want to remember who he's coached here), its an indictment on Grant. He isn't likely to play here. It's not some conspiracy to keep him off the field and it isn't a coaches poor judgement.
Right now the kid can't play here, period, the freakin end. That's the reality based on what everyone saw with their own eyes this season. Is it possible the light goes on and he comes out reborn? Yes but that chance significantly diminished after this season. How many of the really good LBers over the last 10-20 years had competition as weak as this season at MLB and couldn't even touch the field? Seriously.... Most of em bite as pups or if not then its because they are buried in talented positions.... I think there is reason to be very concerned with what we have at lber right now.
I think the move to DE was in part for recruiting purposes and in part one of those moves you see before a transfer, but that's just my opinion on that.
Good days, bad days --- always a Buckeye. Time to begin the assault on the 2014 BCS National Championship
I hope the light comes on with this kid. That being said he was a non factor in the games he played in. Boren made more of impact and the defense improved when he made the switch. If he could play Boren would not have moved. Disappointing but it happens.
