The answer to this won’t officially come for about four months when the team votes. Last year, the team selected five: Defensive lineman John Simon, fullback Zach Boren, linebacker Etienne Sabino, defensive linemen Garrett Goebel and running back Jordan Hall.
And there are some years it is easy to choose/predict the team vote’s outcome. Not so much this year, at least for me. Here is who I think will get the nod with a little bit of reasoning as to why …
Jordan Hall: He has to be named again, right? Last season certainly did not go as expected for No. 7 but there is no sign he lost any juice in the locker room because of it.
Braxton Miller: It’s not super-common for juniors to get the nod. But Miller is the clear leader of the offense and it is altogether possible this is his last season in C-bus.
Jack Mewhort: Alright, this was tough. No Carlos Hyde? No Andrew Norwell? Not super confident in this pick. But the line needed some representation.
Ryan Shazier: There are several other candidates who are a year ahead of him. But isn’t he clearly the leader of the defense now?
C.J. Barnett: Solid performer and a senior.
Brad Roby: Again, a tough call picking him over Christian Bryant. I guess it was Shazier over Bryant, actually, because all three captains can't come from the secondary, right?
What are your thoughts?
OFF. Philly, Mewhort and Hall( can't demote leadership due to injuries! can you?)
DEF. SHazier, Roby ( Wouldnt be shocked to see Bryant, Urban is much higher on him than I am)

My guess of what it will be: Mewhort (lock), Philly (because Hall had it last year), Roby (lock) and Bryant.
My take on who SHOULD be captain: Mewhort, Miller, Roby, Shazier.
Bidds, I like your SHOULD, but would add Philly to that list totaling 5
Gateway to Heaven on Earth
I think Hall, Mewhort and maybe Hyde on offense. On defense, Bryant and Barnett. I'm sticking strictly with seniors. I think Meyer is on record saying Hall will be a captain again this year since he was last year. It was interesting that any games where a captain was hurt, that player did not go out to midfield before the game. (That was Hall, Simon for Michigan and Sabino)
Miller, Shazier and Roby could all be in the mix as well as juniors, too.

I'm gonna go with...
Mewhort - Urban loves this guy like Simon/Boren last year
Hyde - Senior, leader of the RB group
Miller - Growing into a leadershio role, much more comfortable w/ the offense, best offensive player
Shazier - No explanation needed
Bryant - Senior, emotional leader, fiery competitor
The CHASE is on...
I'll start off with a dark horse in there.
Kenny "the coach" Guiton
Jack Mewhort and Jordan Hall
Brad Roby and Ryan Shazeir
I'll agree with Guiton. Great choice.
Dan, did you just say good morning in Russian?

Slovenian. Pretty sure that's close.
We should also name captains on this board. No staffers just posters. Also ought to have a "Get a life award" for whoever spends the most time on this addictive board.I think Griffinfeb would be a candidate for both positions. smile.
