Sorry if this was posted, but it is a video of Ezekial Elliot committing. It reminded me of what a huge decision this is for these players, we as fans sometimes forget that. For Ezekial it is clear that he made the decision that was best for his football career, but it was a rather difficult for him personally.
I was at first put off by his de-commit but this video was a true reminded of everything that goes into a decision for many of these players. You could see the emotion for him and his family in him choosing to pass on the school his parents attended to move to a state hundreds of miles away for football. I hope that some of our fanatics take this into consideration before harassing these guys on Twitter, etc.
I wish him the best of luck and hope he loves Columbus, Ohio as much as I've come to! (I was also a person that moved to Columbus for College and stayed here - unfortunately not for football though) Couldn't be more excited after today's National Signing Day...
Welcome to Buckeye Nation, Ezekial, and the rest of the 2013 recruiting class!
When I watched Eze's video earlier today, I came away very impressed. He loves Ohio St., but he was afraid to say no to Mizzou. When I look back on the last couple of weeks, I understand now how tough it was on him and his family. I cannot wait to see him on the field making plays. Go Buckeyes!!!!!
That was good. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I could give you 100 up votes for that post.
Probably one of the most heartfelt commitments I've ever watched. Clearly this kid has a good head on his shoulders and is already one of my favorite recruits. The Buckeyes are very lucky to have him. Won't have to worry about character issues with this kid :)
I was a bit put off by the drama that seemed to follow this story but his wavering seemed really sincere. Great kid, great family and we are lucky that his head trumped his heart on this one.
Wow, this is an impressive young man off the field. I truly didn't know how hard it was for him eventhough he wanted to be a buckeye. He was torn, could hear it in voice but also through his heart. Just shows you that many of these kids go through the same thing, we just don't get to see it displayed like E did.
But I did notice the big smile on his Moms face when he announced OSU. His Dad on the other hand looks like he had his back all the way....Did you notice the Scarlet and Grey suit and tie. They are a class family...they basically told their son Mizzou may have been what made us and is our family, but son OSU can be yours and "OUR" together. Go Bucks!
It's tough for the oos kids because in many ways they're starting completely over. New friends, girlfriends, family, foods, restaurants in some cases. Plus his parents being alumni of the school it would have to be extra tough on him.
I'm thankful that he chose us!
Great kid. I hope he is successful at OSU.
Thank you for sharing that....what a great kid and what great parents he has. I was almost teary eyed watching him discuss this. What a great talent to coming to the Shoe....
As expected there were disappointed folks in Missouri.
Here's how some of them handled it with Ezekiel, and his mom:
Ed Kilgore @kedwinkilgore
“@EzekielElliott: It's official #BuckeyeNation” Hope u enjoyed all the extra attention by stringing Mizzou along. Pretty selfish.
Chris O'Connell @coachOC24
"Kudos to Ezekiel Elliott's family for a perfectly handled recruitment process." Sincerely, The Kardashians
Robert Murphy @BMurph707
@itz_mizdee I knew the Kardashians liked pro bball but I had no idea they stepped into college fball recruiting lately. #kanyejealous
Miz Dee @itz_mizdee
thank you everyone for the well wishes!!! and those of you adults tweeting negatively at a 17yr old... my husband will pray for you.
Woody and Archie.................................. Alex being Alex, ....................................and Woody at Dennison
There's certainly no place for the vitriol thrown his way BUT.....he did kind of bring this on himself with the VERY last minute addition of the home town school in the mix. I still don't understand how only two weeks before NSD when the kid has been committed to us since April, he realizes both of his parents are alums of the home school and that he should consider them. Something doesn't add up.
Thanks for the video, many of us have not seen it. I think this kid is going to be a stud on and off the field.
Very often, interviews can be quite revealing. This young man's strong character, sensitivty, and genuin nature are unmistakeable. His parents should be very, very proud. Exactly the type of individual you pull for. Exactly the type of leader that any team would benefit from. So pleased it will be The Bucks!! He no doubt had a gut wrenching decision to make.
Holy shit... brought some tears to my eyes...
Ummm.... Mizzou probably BEGGED him to do one last visit.
A lot of stress when family is involved. Welcome.......... GO BUCKS!!!!!
To be fair, I would have hated to see our reaction if it had went the other way. There are douche bags on both sides. Not that EZ owed us anything but if he would have given a quick, neutral interview when he decided to visit Mizzou and showed the sincere emotion that he showed yesterday, it would have saved him some heat. Going underground for two weeks freaked everyone out and ramped up some drama.
I am curious what everyone thinks... Now that we got Ezekial in the fold and all is right with the world. Do you think the agreement by the coaches not to recruit any other running backs once Eze committed was a good move? I am on the fence with this since it worked out I can see that it may have been a good move. However, this could have easily went the other direction and we could be looking at a class with no pure running back except Dontre who at 170 lbs. I don't think would withstand the BIG schedule from start to finish.
I would say, when a rb recruit can promise me 1,500 yards a year, promise to do well in the classroom, promise to never miss a play due to injury and promise to stay all 4 years, I would promise him he would be the only rb I would look at. Otherwise, I'll coach and recruit and you study, play and don't worry about it.
DVers know I'm right and have ZERO explanation. TFF
I would look at the "source" who said no other rb's would be recruited. I'd like to see the QUOTE by Urbs. I can't believe he would actually say this 2 months into the recruiting season and a lot of talent in the nation. Most recruiting classes take at least 2, sometimes 3 due to attrition. (Berry, etc)
I don't think we know that OSU promised not to recruit another RB. As a matter of fact I seem to recall Mr. Elliot said there was no such promise. There has been so much crap posted as fact on these boards the past couple of weeks that it is pathetic (not just in regards to EzE either).
