"Coach Drayton and Herman coming through today."
Are you hearing anything about Elliot? I know he's been pretty hush hush since he got home.
It's good to hear that Herman is accompanying Drayton on the visit. From what other recruits have said (I think it was attributed to Dontre Wilson but don't recall), Herman has a sense of humor and is "funny" in addition to being very knowledgeable. A little humor might be necessary to solidify this commitment though my sense is that Zeke stays with the Buckeyes. Nonetheless, it bears watching.
Don't u feel that if Ezekiel was going to decomit it would have happened before drayton and Herman visit him tonight . Doesn't it sound like he is going to reaffirm his commitment to buckeye nation
I agree. Herman is a hell of a recruiter. He can relate to kids and coaches. Drayton is a good recruiter too. Bringing both of these guys the day after the Mizzou visit? I like it. Bringing in the big dogs.
I bet he sticks with OSU. I'm sure his mind was churning this weekend, but that allure will wear off once reality sinks in.
It's in the kids' court.
Had to be a soul searching weekend for him.
Hope he remembers OSU knew early on the gem that was Ezekiel.
Do what's best for you, son.
Woody and Archie.................................. Alex being Alex, ....................................and Woody at Dennison
Coach Herman was just there last week with Coach Meyer. It is a little more firepower than probably was originally planned for a verbal commitment.
Still, I'd be surprised if he went anywhere but OSU at this point.
I openly admit I may be waaaaay off base here, but I am a very sarcastic/jokester kinda guy so this is the way my mind works sometimes.
That being said, does anyone else think that just maybe the Elliot's are having a little fun with the recruiting process? What I mean by that is after listening to Mr Elliot on FRR saying "after this whole process was over he would share some things him and his family have gone through during Zeke's recruitment" Maybe, just maybe they are poking back a little and having some fun along the way just because they can. I know that is probably not the case, but maybe it isn't too far fetched to think Zeke is ALL Buckeye and he is just getting in some kicks while he can.
This tweet pretty much made me all at ease with this..he is coming here..and Drayton and Herman are going to completely seal it up. GO BUCKS
When everyone runs out...we run in. Support your firemen.
I rarely get to worked up over any recruit and I do think EZ signs with the Bucks. That said, this game being played does not sit well with me. OSU agreed not to take any more true RB's in this class and turned away Williams and Green. At the 11th hour EZ decides to visit Mizz and has some thinking to do now? Seriously? A couple of weeks before signing day after the OSU Coaches didn't take anyone else based upon your committment? I will reserve judgment with respect to track records with players that do this.
I think it will all be a moot point but it still doesn't sit well with me, I don't care what story line was used to justify the visit.
Good post, as usual I agree with you 100%.
But from Ezekiel's perspective, he was told he would be the only RB in this class. It's a promise made to several recruits around the country at various programs. "You'll be the only QB we'll recruit. "You'll be the only RB we'll recruit." "We're only taking two corners -- you and one more." It's very commonplace, so it's not like EZE is afraid of competition just because said promise was made to him.
So, put yourself in his shoes. After months of being told you are going to be the only RB in OSU's class, the Buckeyes start recruiting guys like Dontre Wilson. You can say he's more of a WR, but Wilson considers himself a RB. I'm sure the Elliotts were wondering why OSU was all of a sudden recruiting another "RB" from their perspective.
Perhaps the visit was set up with Missouri just as a shot across the bow, or as AZBuckeyePhan said, perhaps they were just having a little fun with the process. Maybe Ezekiel wasn't feeling the love from Buckeye Nation? Well, he sure as hell is now.
You have a typo..It should read.
"Do what's best for "US" son
When it was known he was taking a visit to Missouri his dad said something like "heck we've been there about 6 times by now" or something similar to that. My question is, since Urban has known he's been taking these visits to his in-state school, is that why he really went after Wilson as a backup? Yea, I know they're supposedly recruiting Wilson as a slot guy but do you think they decided to have Wilson a slot guy/back up plan for RB in case Elliot does flip?
We sure hope so, because this kid is a difference maker.
His mother's tweets were definitely funny.
nope. Urban wants to stockpile speed, he wanted BOTH EE and DW.
I agree, Dave - with one caveat. I don't think that they were just having a little fun with the process. Both Zeke and his parents seem to be very respectful of the process generally. They were very open about this visit. I think that we all agree that Zeke would be a welcome addition to the Buckeyes, both on-field and off-field. But if, for whatever reason, he has had second thoughts, he has earned that right and I still hope that he has great success - seems like a terrific kid (and I quite enjoy his parents' comments too - seem to have a great attitude about this whole crazy process!). In the words of Pantoni - never a dull moment!
Would you guys just knock it off, we were not going to recruit Green regardless of EE, we already have that back, maybe you have heard of them (Ball, Dunn, Smith, and Hyde), we were looking for a different back this recruiting cycle.
Or maybe OSU heard rumblings and felt they needed to start looking at other options.
I don't think he has been as "solid" as everyone thought. Six visits to Missouri?
I'd be willing to bet that is why OSU started putting the press on Wilson.
Agreed, I was just thinking same thing Dave....no matter what he hears, Wilson is a RB, period. Don't blame the kid and he was solid the entire time we were not talking to other RB's.
Let's see: On one hand you can get your head kicked in every week in the SEC East(as they did last season) being the featured back and never play for anything more than pride. On the other hand you can save yourself a whole lot of pounding by being a key piece on a perennial title contender while maintaining the same if not an even better draft stock at OSU.
Seems like a pretty easy choice for me but I guess I'm not in his situation.
I am to lazy to look it up, but does Missouri have any other RB's in it's current commitment list? If they have a "true" RB in their class already, then in my mind he isn't afraid of competition......i guess it would be the "lie" that he was going to be the only RB in OSU class that irked him.....I don't see Wilson playing RB a whole lot in college, but I also am not a coach.....lol
I think Philly also thought he was a RB out of HS as well and we see how that turned out.....
FWIW, my vote is that EE will be a Buckeye.......
Then the staff did a piss poor job of communicating that ( DW is NOT a RB in this offense) to the Elliots. Again, EE didn't just wake up last week and say to himself that he should visit the home school on an OV. Something absolutely triggered this visit.
Plus the quality of education that TOSU offers! Reaffirm Zeke then I can work and take a five minute break from Bucknuts!
