Fan stabbed outside Georgia Dome
Updated: January 21, 2013, 1:21 AM ET
ESPN.com news services
An Atlanta Falcons fan was stabbed in the neck during an altercation outside the Georgia Dome following Sunday's NFC Championship Game, WSB-TV in Atlanta reported.
The victim, a 35-year-old male, was stabbed after punching a San Francisco 49ers fan, witnesses told WSB-TV. After being punched, the 49ers fan stabbed the Falcons fan in the throat area, according to the report.
The Falcons fan was transported to nearby Grady Hospital.
Georgia Dome spokesman Jason Kirksey emailed a statement to The Associated Press on Sunday saying an altercation occurred in a parking lot outside the dome at 6:40 p.m. ET.
The statement says he is in stable condition and that it is unclear "if anyone involved in the altercation attended the game." Georgia Dome and Atlanta police "are investigating the incident."
The 49ers defeated the Falcons, 28-24, on Sunday to reach the Super Bowl for the first time in 18 years.

I would ban you for comparing a ban on weapons that can kill many people at once to someone being cut with a knife!
I hope you are just kidding!
Did you know that the guy who shot up the theater in Colorado had a 100 round drump magazine on his semi-auto?
Our quarterback does front flips, suck it.
Hating scUM since 1964
what...no outrage for Gessig for suggesting the banishment of fire extinguishers? I am in no way comparing this incident to Colorado. Please....
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Amazingly, the call has already been made in England...
"A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase – and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.
They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon.
They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen.
None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed.
The researchers say legislation to ban the sale of long pointed knives would be a key step in the fight against violent crime.
“We suggest that banning the sale of long pointed knives is a sensible and practical measure that would have this effect.”
Incredible. Baseball bats are next in line...croquet mallets to follow.
Man this thread is going nowhere good fast.
