Hey guys, I'm going to go to my first OSU game this fall with my girlfriend. I just don't know which game yet. We really want to do one of the night games, but it's not a deal breaker. Does anyone have any advice on: A) where/when to get the best deal on tickets or B) any general advice on the ticket buying/trip planning process? Thanks and go bucks!
I'd try Ebay, or another ticket selling site, but be careful they can get really expensive. Especially for the the night games. As for game day check out skull session it's 2 hours before kick off and the tailgate at Little Bar. Both are must's for your first ever game. You are gonna love it, Enjoy
best bet on tickets are to find professional scalpers and treat them like dirt... They jack up the price so laugh at them when they offer... pretend you arent interested... they will chase you down the street knocking the price lower and lower. If you wait till after kickoff you can get the tix dirt cheap.
though you miss the best part... the band coming out
Ditto Deegsh, the skull session is a must....at St Johns Area....if you enter the arena on the North Side, and seat in about Section 12, you will face the team when they come in, and see the band come in at the tunnel.....and afterward be sure to stay for the singing of Carmen Ohio at the South end of the field with the band, cheerleaders and players.....one neat thing also along Lane Avenue above Neil on the North side of the street, all the food vendors are set up selling brats, hamburgers, Philly sandwiches and the like....it realy sets the atmosphere....
Thanks for all the info guys! So stub hub or the university website isn't recommended? What about seats? Are there ones to avoid?
Although it can be a little risky, if you wait til the week of the game, you can find good seats on ebay. People cant go for whatever reason and are content with getting back face value (or less) on short notice
After the game head to the varsity club. Danger Brothers play behind the bar.
I think Eleven Warriors "Eat Too Brutus" party is prior to the Penn State game. It's a fun pregame party. That is a night game too.
Ticket prices are a little higher on stub hub, but a good thing about them is if you get screwed buying fake tix, give their company a call and they will still get you in the game. I don't know if ebay or other sites do this or not... Anyone know when tix go on sale at ticket master? I doubt all these games will sellout.

Based on my experience, it depends on your girlfriend. If you want her to catch the fever and understand the passion I recommend the following.
Get tickets in the lower level of the south stands. Not great for watching the field of play but when it comes to the band, cheerleaders, Brutus, etc. it works.
I bought tickets on eBay from a Grad student for THE GAME. 10 rows up from the field, right next to the band. I have awesome pictures for when OSU was hitting the end zone. Other parts for the game I was turning around looking at the big screen.
The best part... On the field next to Lauranitus and others after the win as he was singing Carmen Ohio to the band with the rest of the team. Literally 5 feet away with the video cam running. Cool memorable stuff.
Hineygate version II? Good to know. I hope to get up for a game this season.
