Great post Bax.
I can only surmise most of the critics/bashers/ungratefuls whatever you want to call it of the Tressel era are:
Young, with no understanding of history and posessing brains addled by ESPN.
You know how many national titles OSU has won the last 50 years?
What in our history suggests that Tressel somehow underacheived?
And I have been as critical as any of some of his former staff members.
In the early years as the more competent members of the staff took promotions elsewhere, I don't feel like Tressel took the opportunity to look outside his comfort zone.
You can't handle the truth
One statement, centervilleosu, about the 1961 team, the year I graduated from that esteemed university.....that was an unfortuante year as the Buckeyes went undefeated 8-0-1, wiht the opening game tie with Texas Christian, outscored their oponents 221-83, held 3 of the 9 teams they played without a TD, won the B10 title, then got screwed out of the Rose Bowl game bid by the Facility Committe, probably causing them the NC to Alabama. We all felt that they would end up undefeated and get the nod for the NC. They were named #1 in some of the minor polls but not the AP and UPS.The Buckeyes had been ranked #1 in all of the pre-season polls coming into 1961.
