Man the Tide keeps rolling. Pretty amazing the talent they get every year. Hope to hear some good news on Quick. I know we backed off Foster and I wasn't expecting to get him. Just amazed how many of the top recruits Bama gets every year. I know Urban is changing things here for the better and I am extremely excited. Would be nice to hear 1 or 2 of our must gets make it official.
I certainly agree. Alabama does continue to reload every year. I also hope that we don't regret backing off of Fosters recruitment in the end. I think we really could have landed him if Urb really wanted him. However, I do have complete trust in this staff!
Unless he doesn't qualify then Urban really screwed up by not recruiting him.
If Alabama is willing to look past his issues then so should we.
As well has Urban is recruiting; we will have to recruit better to beat Bama. We need multiple top tier playmakers.
Agreed. But I have to agree that I trust urban! There were too many people talking about how this kid has issues. As much as we need too tier talent, I just cringe at the notion of possible sanctions from someone messing up down the road. I hope we land at least quick.
Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect.” - Woody Hayes
Alabama can afford to miss and take a flyer on "problem" kids like Foster because of their oversigning.
Ohio State doesn't really have that luxury.
Plus Bama doesn't care about the off the field issues bc if he screws up, they will just shuttle him out and replace him with another five star lol
Well, I would love to have this kind of talent coming to OSU, but I suppose avoiding the headaches is a prize in itself. In any case, I'm just glad we have Jalin Marshall headed our way.
If the rumors of off-field problems are true, we didn't miss much. It only takes one problematic kid to bring down an entire program....especially a program that is on thin ice with the NCAA.
Taking kids with issues hasn't really worked out well of us in the past so I'm glad Urban passed on him. Especially with us being on probation.
Urb could have done the same if he wanted too. I would think bama would have more to lose with taking foster than OSU would right now and they still took him.

Its only a matter of time till Alabama gets caught cheating again. I live within an hour of Tuscaloosa (nothing to do shithole)...They have players driving 50-60k vehicles...only a matter of time.
Don't think the Bucks "wanted" Bob Foster.
I have to agree but I have a feeling that in two years we will be wishing we had him!
Man, it would be tough sledding playing against that juggernaut. Hopefully Saban dies soon

I think there is a 50/50 chance he never enrolls at 'Bama anyway...rumor has it his academics make Shelton Gibson look like an honor roll student so he'll probably end up going the prep school route and then who knows where he ends up...probably the same place as Duron Carter
You may be right . The article I read said his freshman and Sophmore grades were bad but in the last couple years he has been working after school with a Tudor to improve his grades. Only time will tell. If we did pass on him I am confident in our staff and the research they would of done. I just want one of our must gets to pull the freaking trigger for crying out loud
Theres that fine line between giving a potential prob kid a 'second chance' and 'taking talent regardless of baggage' imo. So far, urb has been really consistent and i applaud him. He didnt want to deal with devonte neal so he passed. He heard rumors about jordan diamond and passed. And make no mistake we stopped chasing foster. Face it, if its win at all costs....believe me....it ALWAYS costs. I happen to agree that foster never makes it to tuscaloosa. I wish the kid well but i have zero problem watching him go somewhere else. My $0.02
Sounds like this recruit has "baggage" issues... wasn't he the recruit that had issues on his visit to Columbus?
Well said sir.
Yeah he made some comments on twitter about being bored and not caring about the academic side of the visit. It was the first red flag that the kid couldn't at least keep his mouth shut on a visit. I applaud urban for understanding more then anybody that its a privilage to come to this university. No one has the right to play here just because they only excel in a sport. And I agree with his recruiting strategy.
It's easy to take a chance on kids like Foster when you oversign like they do....low risk/ high potential return. When you actually have to play by the rules and you take a chance on a kid like this and he ends up not qualifying it can have a much larger negative impact.
If you couldn't tell, I was be sarcastic in my tweet about Saban dieing
You better hope the fake buckeye doesn't see this post...
All this means is that some kid whose Parents Saban promised would be at Alabama and he would lookout for them, will have their scholarship pulled if Saban deems Foster is better than them.
Its a rotten way to Recruit, as long the NCAA have no penalties in place for gross oversigning like 90% of SEC Schools do, this will continue to happen. Its not hard to reload when you bring in 30-35 Recruits every year. What is never mentioned are the kids that NEVER set foot on the field because their scholarships are pulled because someone else is deemed better than them. I'll take the way we do things any day. Good luck to Robert Foster, i think we'll be ok with the talent Coach Meyer is bringing in. The right way.....Go Bucks!
James Quick. That is all
