I went to watch Cincinnati Moeller play Pickerington North last night and Godwin was the best player on both sides of the ball. If the buckeyes are looking for a safety, he is th ebest in Ohio, bar none. No one tackles as well as he does, nor do they get there any quicker. He was amazing!!! Now to the offensive side of the ball. 193 yards rushing on 14 carries. I wonder why he didn't get the ball more. I think Mitch Trubisky is "Mr. Football", but Godwin is in a league of his own. Buckeye coaches, take a look at this game last night and tell me who is better in Ohio that is a safety. He could be the elusive back the Urban is looking for as well.
Anyone else at this game that wants to comment.
Darren Lee. End of story. Godwin is going to NW...that's about perfect for him.
You ain't seen nothin yet until Saturday when Toledo Whitmer will take the state Div. I title. The Panthers crushed Mentor on Saturday night, 62-34 and it was no fluke. Whitmer has not had an opponent come within double digits in any game this season. They can run the ball, two very good running backs and a great high school QB. In fact I would put him as Mr. Football in Ohio. Not that Trubisky hasn't been great, he has but nobody has done what Nick Holley has done this year. He can run, 250 yards last night against Mentor but he has a great touch in the passing game going for 150 last night. All this and an aggressive defense, maybe the best in the State. But maybe the best part is the young and aggressive coaching staff lead by first year head coach Jerry Bell, a Whitmer alum. This will be the first shot at a state title for Whitmer who, in the last 3 years have lost three games, two in the state semis. Finally, there are two Toledo teams playing for State titles next weekend, Toledo Central Catholic, part of the TRAC league with Whitmer, will be playing for the Div. II championship. It will be a great weekend for Toledo high school football.
Disagree, if Godwin played the same level of competition as New Albany, it would not even be fair or safe for that matter. Lee is a great player but not in the same league as Godwin. Godwin's issue is that he had to sit out his soph year and played for the other Pickerington School last year.
To put it in perspective, last year, he nearly beat Pickerington Central on his own. Pick Central made it to the state championship game last year. This year North beat Central twice by a combined score of 61-0. If Godwin would have stayed at Central, Central would have won both of those games. In junior high, which goes way back, he played for Lakeview which beat Ridgeview 44-7. The following year he played for Ridgeview which beat Lakeview 50-0. All of the other kids were the same.
I have watched Godwin play four times now and he has been more than impressive on both sides of the ball. Hilliard Davidson coach Brian White said after watching him in film and playing against him that he was the best player he has faced at safety. If you know anything about Ohio high school football than you will know how successful Brian White is and how much talent he has coached against. I was shocked when I first saw Godwin and found out he wasn't going anywhere bigger than NW

First off, he said "at Safety". Secondly, if Darron Lee's offense were built around him carrying the football his numbers would e SICK! He hands the ball of 90% of the time.
NW is a pretty big deal in academia, I have no idea how big of a deal that is to Godwin, but comparing tOSU academics to NW's is like trying to compare NW's football to tOSU's. (This is coming from an OSU alum).
Correct, I didn't mean to make it sound like overall, I guess I should fix that. I assumed we were all talking about safety
I wasnt down playing Northwetern's academics... I was simply saying I was surprised he didn't have better offers from better football schools
I would have to disagree with your comment bc I don't think the Pick North offense is built around Godwin running the ball. If Godwin was in an offense where he got 25-30 carries a game his numbers would be SICK too. A big part of the Pick North offense is their QB running around making plays.
I'm not saying Godwin is tOSU material but I do think he should have some bigger offers. I wouldnt disagree tho if Urban did offer him
