For anybody who has been to Madison before, any suggestions on where to eat, things to do/see or places to avoid?
Stop In Rockford Illinois and pick me up, I will show you personally
I dream of a day when chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.
Ill be there for my second time. Be honest I couldn't really tell you much to do by name of place. What is cool is that Camp Randall is right in the heart of campus and there is so much around it you will figure it out by simply walking around the stadium. Bunch of restaurants/bars.
Wear a rain coat (for the piss balloons) and a helmet and shoulder pads (for the d batteries). Once we get up by three te's they're going to act like idiots.
When the cheese heads come to Minnesota you often see their students walking around with open wisky bottles. Cant imagine Camp Randell being other than sousced on saturday. If your easy going you should be ok. We always sat in the middle of them and had a lot of fun teasing them at the Metrodome. Using good judgment always paid off.
We like to tell them we like Wisky but not crybaby Buleima. Always get some to agree. Should be a lotta fun.Go Bucks GoGophers
There are bars on State Street which leads from campus to the statehouse. Traffic can be bad on the road in from the airport to campus (so go early or come in by the lake ... usually no traffic at all down there).
Also good string of bars on Regent Street east of the stadium.
My advice is wear your OSU stuff at your seat, don't flaunt it beside there. I've seen people pushed from behind just because they had OSU stuff on. You never see it coming.
After dark and when they are well fueled, you also want to keep your mouth shut and get somewhere safe.
Heard two good restaurant recommendations ...
Great Dane, 123 E Doty St downtown, I have never been there, supposedly it's a brewpub
Johnny Delmonicos, 130 S Pickney St, same neighborhood downtown as Great Dane:
I have enjoyed nearly every visit to Madison. Great game atmosphere.

Stay close to our buckeye cheerleaders...no one would attack them.
I would. Oh wait you meant in a harmful way, my bad. Lol
I don't know why some are so down on our cheerleaders? while not being raider girl material, they still blow most woman (looks/body) out of the water. imo
"according to a source familiar with the goings on behind the doors of the WHAC,there is absolutely no panic.Actually, quite the contrary."
bring pepper spray. Its non lethal and will stop any drunken frat boy along with his friends cold who attempt to assault you and your family.
"The only thing That Team Up North will be tasting this year is the salty tears of defeat" - UFM
Anyone need an extra pair of tix for the game this weekend in the buckeye section? Been to all Big10 stadiums except Nebraska, and I think Wisconsin has the most fun atmosphere. Lots of fun bars on campus. Make sure u try the cheese curds at some of the bars.
@BucknutsFan "My primary focus has been helping my teams win titles. I want a football team that goes 4-6 seconds of relentless effort." UM
Yes, and we could have some Bucknutters who are related to them so let's stop degrading them. Some people have made their points. They aren't the "hot chicks" like some other teams; but they are doing their jobs and representing tOSU well. They are cheelreaders not strip club dancers!
Take a shower after you leave. That's my suggestion.
We parked to the east of the stadium once and made the mistake of walking next to their fraternity row. Drunks threw beer at us from several of the houses. Do watch your back. Chances are high that you'll be spit on or cussed at least once on your walk to and from the game. Try walk with other Buckeyes when possible. It's a nasty place, especially for night games. At least it will be light going to the stadium. I was told to stay away from the Kollege Klub. GO BUCKS!!!!
I worked in Madison for a summer and it is a cool town. I think they have the only student union that sells beer. It is a good place to visit, right on the lake and usually have music on the weekends. Also Essen Haus is a good restaurant with German food & beer and about a miilion beer mugs on the ceiling.
Also there is a diner near the stadium called Mickie's Dairy Bar and is is a great place for breakfast
Another restaurant I used to go to up there is called Jolly Bobs. It's kind of an island theme - good drinks and coconut shrimp
Lol I wasn't degrading them. You guys didn't get the joke in my post. I was saying I'd attack them... Physically, sexually.. Lol
Needed a sarcasm emoticon I guess
The Great Dane is awesome up here. There won't be a ton of students or rowdy drunks there so after we beat them you won't have to deal with too many issues there.
I am a Buckeye...proof there is a God in Heaven who loves me.
Thanks everyone...appreciate the suggestions.
