Yesterday was just brutal to watch. Indiana had 5-6 guys who can really shoot the basketball and we have one!!! I have never seen so many bricks in my life. Thad has done a great job for the past 5-6 years at Ohio St, but he REALLY needs to step up his recruitment of shooters. And just think if DeShaun goes pro early after this year.......how are we going to score???? it is going to be scary next year.
I had the exact same thought a couple of weeks ago. Recruiters can fall in love with athleticism, but in the end it is about putting the ball in the basket. Beat the bushes to find the Dieblers out there flying under the radar.
All 4 osu signees/verbals in the '13 and '14 classes can shoot
Fortunately, our two incoming recruits (Loving & Williams) can both really stroke it. However, in the case of Loving, he's rail thin and will take some time phyically to adjust to the demands of the B1G. Also, ADV should be improved as a SO next season and he can shoot the rock pretty effeciantly as well. With continued improvement from Craft, Scott, Smith jr, Q Ross, and Thompson the 2013-14 Buckeyes will have some actualy threats on the perimeter...I hope.
K. Williams fr
'13 recruit ? (PLEASE for the love of god be a serviceable big man)

Not only do we need guys who can shoot, but we really need guys who have the ability to break down their defender and create an open shot for themself or take advantage of obvious mismatches. Ie...Thomas backing down his defender instead of taking long shots over guys he has 6" on.
i just think thad needs to review his assistant's.. something not right
What a novel concept.
I think we are being a little over critical of Matta.....not that i do not agree we need to pick up on the recruiting.
I was watching UNC play Miami over the weekend (and i have watched them a few other times)....what do you think UNC fans are saying about Roy Williams? they do not look good at all.....i am sure the recruits he has on the floor were expected to do more than what was advertised which I think is the same thing with Matta and our Soph class....
With that being said next year still could be a down year. DT is not coming back...not with a little baby boy to feed and take care of. I would be SHOCKED if he returned.
This is what we need to have happen to have a better than average year next year:
1. Ross will need to be the primary scorer
2. Craft will need to have a more effective offensive game
3. Shannon Scott will have to contribute offensively
4. Amir/Trey McDonald will have to provide double digit points, rebounds, and sprinkle in some blocks (between both of them)
5. LSJ will be the secnodary scorer
6. Slam Thompson will HAVE to develop more on the offensive end....more so on the ability to penetrate and finish (like LSJ can). that will make him very dynamic
7. The two incoming Frosh will have to contribute early
8. Matta will have to bring in a JUCO transfer to help with bench depth.
Am i missing anything? this will still be a team built on defense but I believe we will have to become more of an up tempo type of team to be effective and score consistently in the 70's and 80's.

He did, and as soon as Amedeo is ready, he's going to destroy the Big Ten Diebler style.
