From 1-10, what is your interest in Ohio State basketball? I personally think the Buckeyes have a gem of a program and I see Thad Matta as a lifer. In other words, the fun has only begun. He's an excellent recruiter, he puts together excellent coaching staffs and he's an underrated bench coach IMO. You don't go to two Final Fours at Ohio State, win 6 Big Ten championships, have the best season in Xavier history and help build the program at Butler if you're not a good bench coach. He's more than just a good recruiter.
Anyway, with football now (barely) in the rear view mirror for this season and basketball heating up, was curious how people on this here board felt about the matter. I would give basketball a 9. I love OSU basketball, but I have to admit it's a small step down from OSU football in my book.
Ill go 8. NCAA BBall is really exciting to watch, especially in Feb & March. It's ten times the product that the nba is imo
11. Can't wait to settle in and watch EVERY game! The emergence of LQR is going to be the story of the B1G this year!
11 here as well. I've travelled to see the basketball team a lot in recent years including NCAAs. Absolutely thrilled with the way Thad has elevated the program.
9.5 I love Buckeye Hoops.
Interest is a 10, Expectations maybe not as much.
3. Refs have too much influence in football , but they're out of control in basketball. The way the game is called at the end is completely different than the rest of the game.
Giving the BB fans a scale of 1 to 10 and saying football is a 10 is showing some serious bias towards football there Dave. Like some of the others here, I'm going to say 11. I actually enjoy OSU basketball a little more than football. It irks me when our fans devalue the basketball program by saying OSU is a "football school". OSU is one of the very few schools (like Florida and Texas) that have more than enough resources to give both programs all they could ever need in order to succeed. We don't have to be either a "football school" or a "basketball school". We can be both.
For me during the regular season it varies depending on who we're playing. So id say it's about a 7 and then for tourney time it's a solid 9.
6. Nothing comes close to buckeye football.
I'll go an 8. I watch every game but don't feel the same "do or die" in the gut that I get in football. Also not feeling the vibes with the current team yet as they just aren't exciting me.
Before March - 7
During March - 10
Fair enough Rod. I didn't mean for it to come across that way. I'm glad the basketball diehards are going "off-the-scale" and using 11 to show they have more interest in OSU basketball than OSU football. Interesting discussion for sure.
I bet A LOT of people concur with you here.
Right now merely a 6 or a 7 since it's so early in the season plus we still have the football bowl games and offseason.
Once February and March roll around, it's a 9 for me. The Big Ten has become a brutal conference and the race to win the regular season championship in February and early March is the most exciting time for me.

1-2 for pre-conference patsies
7.5-8.5 for great pre-conference games
6-7 for normal conference games
8.0-8.5 for big conference games and the big ten tournament
9.5 for NCAA tournament. Wish it was a 10, but it just isn't.
Mines is a 10, I love basketball just as much as I do football
Right now- 7
I am still on football high, right now I say 7. Once the B1G basketball schedule starts and bowl season starts to dwindle down I will be a 9. Don't think basketball will ever be on football level for me.
Considering the direction Jim O'Brien had the program headed with rock star players like Brandon Bass (Remember the free throw off the backboard in the Big Ten tourny...ouch!) and Zach Williams. I couldn't be more excited about this Matta lead, perennial top 10 program.
11 out of 10! All day and twice on Sundays.
