glad to have the coverage we have, always appreciate any additional info basketball related -- it only adds to this site's utility, especially in the football offseason.
Haha. Seriously, it's amazing to think of the difference in this program when you compare the O'Brien era with the Matta era. Jim O'Brien was the definition of "settling for mediocrity." He had the great FF run in '99 (the one that didn't count) but put the program on cruise control after that. He was a dreadful/lazy recruiter.
Buckeye basketball fans are so fortunate to have Matta.
OSU BB is awesome to follow now. Getting elite and very good recruits make the team exciting every year. I think it would be hard if OSU was still a stagnant, mediocre program. Its almost more exciting watching the bench come in because they are young guys who you just want to see play. Even if OSU struggles in the B10 this year which I think is certainly possible, if they just make the tournament they can do damage. There are at least 7 B10 teams with a realistic chance to make the sweet 16 this year.
Amazing where Matta has taken OSU bball. It would make anyones top 10 program list and that is crazy when you think of where this program was 7-8 years ago
That's why all I can do is shake my head whenever I hear fans complaining about Matta.
5. Football is by far the best sport in the world. College ball is the best form in my opinion. Buckeye football is utopia!
Basketball is alright, but I find myself getting bored watching it at times, never that problem with the pigskin.
-512. Hate basketball of any kind.
I'll say an 8...
If I miss even one second of OSU football I go into a panic.
With OSU basketball, I truly care and prioritize trying to watch games, but if something comes up, I'm cool with missing a game or getting back in front of the set for the second half.
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.

I'm gonna go with a 9. Football is a 10 and I can't honestly say I'm quite as invested in Buckeyes B-ball. I do try to watch every game and have my own separate OSU gear for basketball games.
The CHASE is on...
Ohio State Football = 10
Ohio State Basketball = 7
All other levels of basketball. = less than zero
It's a good question. Like some others, the ranking depends on the game circumstances. Watching OSU-Duke last year in B-ball when Matta's group smashed them gave me much more pleasure than watching the football team beat UAB or Miami of Ohio. And the last 1 minute of college basketball can last a lifetime with the lead changing hands numerous times. And Evan Turner's near half-court toss that sunk Michigan had me leaping out of my chair just as Miller's Hail Mary did against Wisky a year ago. And last year's version of OSU basketball certainly was a greater joy to watch than its football counterpart at times. So, yes, it can go from 7-12. But then any OSU game I'm at, from hockey to rugby, is better than anything watched on television. It's all about the Buckeye community.
tOSU BB deserves a 10. But I can't must much interest in it until tournament time. 3 now, 7 then. Guess I'll have to strive to be a more "complete" fan.
I think you're merging the names of two different O'Brien era players. But your point is well taken. OB sure didn't do much with the opportunity he had to make some hay off his 1999 Final Four run. I think he wanted a Wisconsin-like program, which is getting the most out of 4 year role players who fit his style. He wasn't interested in going after stars who would leave after a year or two. Too much work.
I'd say 8 Football plays once a week it makes it easier to plan around. Basketball has so many games hard to watch them all,and a lot of uneventful games as well ! Nevertheless Go Bucks!! OH!

Right now - 2
In March - 4
If they make final 4 - 5-6
Probably 9.5 because its not at football level where I refuse to miss any play of any game. However, there is physical damage to part of my wall in my basement due to watching a basketball game, not football. These early season clunkers do nothing for me, once January and conference play rolls around, I'm locked and loaded.
"Dorsey...under pressure...throws iiiiiit. Incomplete. The Buckeyes win!" - Keith Jackson
I have football at a 25 out of 10 scale. Basketball comes in at 9.5
Now I know some will say come on 10 or 11 but 25 is too far off the charts. I was working in Scobey, Montana and had to watch the mishitgan game there with people that had no care about football.
They asked me why so much passion for a game? I told them do you remember what it was like when you were 5 and it was Christmas morning? They said yes, I then told them, that is what it feels like for me every Saturday that my Buckeyes are playing! All 5 people said I wish I liked anything in my life remotely that close. I am jealous.
It is great to be a Buckeye
