Brian Kelly has his kids all relaxed. It looks more like they are on a vacation than on a business trip. If there is one thing that we learned--it's that you celebrate after the Championship game, rather than before it. Win first, then party. Were these players alive in 2006? Didn't they learn something from that? We're only seeing a small fraction of their preparation as of right now--so let's just put the prejudice off tomorrow night.
We may have lost the battle......but not the war.
Yeah, I remember hearing from the Columbus media leading up to the 2006 title game that our players were all relaxed and chill and having a good time. Our media was chalking it up to their experience of having been through it before and the more experienced team in that regard. The Florida players were reportedly more "uptight" in the days before the game and more business-like. We all all know how that turned out.
I remember it like it was yesterday; that when the U showed up for the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, they all had suits and ties on. They looked like a bunch of business guys coming off the plane. As a die hard buckeye fan, I was extremely worried when I saw our beloved Buckeyes exit the plane in hawaiian shirts and Tostitos hats on like it was some kind of spring break vacation. We all know how that one turned out. The bucks shocked the world. Coach Kelly knows what he's doing. He knows people are watching them get off the plane. I have a gut feeling ND just may pull this off.
I think the demeaner of the players if far more important to gauge their mindset than what they are wearing. For all we know the 2002 Bucks were dead fucking serious all week long in Tempe, even though they had Hawaiian shirts on off the plane and the Canes goofed off all week even though they had suits and ties on getting off the plane.
I do know that that the Canes had some sort of victory celebration already planned that the Bucks found out about before the game which pissed them off even more.
I hope Notre Dame gets curb stomped personally. Hate Notre Dame!
Traitor. Eff the SEC. Michigan belongs there. Thugs. Classless. Cheating. Losing. Yeah, they'd fit in well there.
Notre Dame needs to win for the Buckeyes.
I dislike ND too, but i would much rather hear about ND all off season than the dominant SEC, which if UA loses monday the $EC will be 3-4 in bowl games.
Are you a closet Domer?
While I hate the SEC at least when they run their mouths they generally back it up. I want nothing to do with hearing all those arrogant prick Domer fans run their mouths. Keep them in the closet with their corrupt priests where they belong. Delusional idiots.
Besides that we tend to compete with ND for more recruits....and you saw what happened with Quick.....don't need them with a championship to show recruits.
Let them have one decent year where they fall short and get exposed in the NC game and send them back to the dredges where they belong....at least that is my delusional hope.
By '06 are you referring to osus beatdown of notre dame in the fiesta?
Generally speaking, I couldn't care less how other teams are approaching their bowl games.
That said, nothing that happens will make Bama less attractive to recruits (2 titles in 3 years, playing for 3 in 4 years). The same is not true of "first good team in 20yrs" ND. So, I'd love to see Bama curb-stomp ND to the tune of say a 40pt beat down. Something so embarrassing that all the people wearing Gold, Blue of Green leave the friggin stadium at half time. That might be a little positive for our future recruiting.
Hail Hail to MeatChicken the Cesspool of the World!
Still not catching the ever-contagious WHINE-FLU!!!
Bama is very beatable this year--an opponent need only get decent play from its quarterback and play good defense, especially against the run. ND's front seven will be as good as anybody Bama has played this year. The only issue is whether they can get good QB play. If they do, they will win. No ND fan (I really don't care for Kelly), but facts are facts.
I do love the optimism, and as I've said weeks around here, I am not an ND hater. But.... ND is going to get their asses handed to them. Their defense is not as good as OSU's 2002 defense and won't be able to keep UA under 21 points. What's more, UA's defense IS the real deal and won't allow ND to score more than 10 points.
I hope i'm wrong, but last year, LSU couldn't cross the 50 yard line. UA's defense is not as good as last year's but it is the best in the country. I'd be shocked if ND even scored 10 points.
My prediction: Alabama 31, ND 10
Let's hope I'm wrong. I hate Alabama.
The Father, The Son... well, it's the
The Holy Trinity... as I see it.
I've gone back and forth on which team I would like to see win. I can't imagine either one of their fan bases if their team wins. I think ND fans would be even more unbearable than Bama fans but I still find myself hoping that ND wins. Maybe it is because I'm Catholic, maybe because Lou Holtz was their coach (loved the man), maybe because I can't stand the SEC.
Actually, is there any way that both can lose?
Yes - they could have both lost if tOSU had qualified and beaten ND for the NCG. They would have both lost in that scenario! And I think we would have beaten ND for sure.
Just the fact that Brian Kelly shoots off his mouth about how great he is all the time and brings up his past championships, etc.is enough for me to say Roll Tide. I can't stand that arrogant ass!
My wishes for tonight (some have already been expressed)
1- notre dame to get totally embarrassed and the game basically be over by mid 2nd quarter
2- Kelly to get so mad and red in the face he breaks a yard marker (ala Woody) on the side lines
3- saban shits his pants (ala paterno) and has to run to the restroom during the game
4- the game gets so boring that herby and mushmouth have to start talking about how Ohio State will be great next year
5- a giant tidal wave engulfs the stadium. No one gets killed, but Kelly gets so made he starts to cry
6- the alabama cheerleaders (female) are so excited with the win they strip naked and pose for the water logged camera.
