He was a true soph in that game, same as Brax would have been in a bowl this year. TP was a better passer in this game than Brax was in almost every game this year. Wish we could have seen Brax in a bowl too.
I know most associate Pryor with tattoos, suspensions, Tress, leaving, etc... but I choose to remember him for his two dominant performances in 2 BCS bowls as a soph and a junior for Ohio State. Those 2 years OSU was 23-3. Not too bad at all.

He was a great player on the field for us. He won a rose bowl and a sugar bowl and was undefeated against the team up north. No matter what the record books say.
Was watching with my Dad and we talked about the "what if" situation if none of that stuff happened.
What a crazy couple years for Buckeye nation
TP threw a couple great passes against Oregon but outside of those he wasn't any better than Braxton was this season. The pass to Ballard was terrible and it was complete luck that it was completed. TP was a better scrambler than Miller though (not a better runner). Miller had more yards AND wins than Pryor did as a Soph and he finished fifth in the Heisman voting. Just remember that TP is the main reason we didn't see Miller in a bowl this season.
Is this in BTN now ?
"Hey, I am a Buckeye Born and bred, I'll be a Buckeye till I am dead!"
I respectfully disagree. Just watched the entire game and TP was on target short and long all day. Your "remember" comment is superfluous. I already said what I choose to remember about TP. It's all in the rearview mirror in both cases.
Just finished a while ago. On BTN again at 4:00am for your DVRing pleasure.
I can accept that viewpoint, but I am excited to come back to this comparison/argument in two years when it won't even be fair comparison anymore.
Pryor no doubt was a better scrambler than brax but I think brax is a better runner and a better passer. Brax would look sick in a bowl game.
Um... just a SLIGHT difference in the offenses they are running, don't you think? Nevertheless after 2 years, TP threw for more TDs, Brax ran for more. 48 total TDs for Brax, 45 for TP. Interesting.
I agree. It's too bad that we were screwed out of seeing Brax in BCS (poss NCG) because some guys wanted to get free tattoos. I know someone will chime in that JT is the reason for the bowl ban, but there is no cover up without the initial crime. Due to his selfish actions., Pryor shouldnt have even been afforded the opportunity to play in that second BCS bowl win that the original poster is touting on his record.
I can appreciate your point of view, I just refuse to be as bitter about past events as you clearly are. No coverup without the initial crime? C'mon man. Who was the 18 year old kid, and who was the 55 year old coach who knew what the right thing to do was?
If Brax has as good a junior year as TP had... 2,800 yds passing, 27 TDs, 750 rushing, 4 TDs and a TD reception... and really I expect it to be bigger in the 2nd year of Urban's offense, we will play in a BIG TIME bowl, that is for sure.
trading your jersey or autograph for free tats is not a crime? Its a dumb NCAA rule that needs to be changed it puts the student athete at a disadvantage over any student who can sell his stuff on ebay. He didnt rape someone, sell drugs, dui, or any other crime currently being committed everyday by college kids, he traded his jersey, autograph and gold pants for some tats. And yes he should have played in the second BCS bowl the NCAA knew what was done and ruled them elgible.
Sorry I used the word crime, you knew what I meant though. If I use "NCAA violation" will that make you happy? After Pryor told more of the truth after the season (selfishly so that he would be eligible for supplemental draft) it was clear that he should have been suspended for the entire 2010 season, which is part of the reason why that season AND BCS bowl game were vacated. I think you forgot about the Bobby D story as well that was luckily never fully looked into or proven by the NCAA. Pryor wasnt just getting a few free tats, he was making quite a bit of money illegally (by NCAA standards).
Terry was ok, but he didn't have big leaps in improvement that I think Braxton will.
Most of the Bobby D story was crap just like the car stories. My daughter who is college junior told me that certain local bars she goes to give discounted and at time free drinks to pretty girls, they do that knowing if they keep the place full of pretty girls it will be packed with guys and thus the business will prosper. If she was an athlete this would be an NCAA violation, I dont consider her "selfish" for accepting the free drinks anymore than I consider Pryor selfish. A player can get a DUI, drugs ect... and they will get very little suspension if any, but accept a discount or something free that is totally legal and something that any college student would accept and they are selfish ect..I understand if this is done as a recruiting tool ex:Auburn (cash) or Oregon 25k to get influence over recruits, but trading your stuff for tats? Its a dumb rule, many will say well if they want extra for playing they should just go to the NFL, the problem is they have to be 3 years out of high school, so the NCAA can make millions off the kids but they are "selfish" if they take some free stuff. I guess Posey was selfish for trading his stuff and raising money for his Mom?
It's tough to tell now due to the change in offensive style. Plus, Pryor had a helluva lot better WRs. Dane and Posey are better than any of Brax's receivers.
Brax is a much more natural passer and thrower, he has a ton of potential. I won't doubt Pryor was a better passer at the time.
I'll give you this, TP was a lot more consistent. He never had many NFl quality throws but they were, most of the time, catchable and accurate. He was awful with short throws. Braxton is not as consistent. He made several great throws this year(throw to Vannett in Nebraska game, wheel route to Rod Smith, long TD pass to Stoney @ PSU, etc) but then he had some god awful throws. Once he finds consistency in his mechanics and pre snap reads, he will much, much better than Pryor. Miller looks natural throwing the ball while Pryor always looked like he was shot putting.
Wow. I guess you really ARE bitter. "it was clear that he should have been suspended for the entire 2010 season" no it is not clear at all. There is absolutely zero proof of anything additional, and believe me, the NCAA looked in depth. " luckily never fully looked into or proven by the NCAA." Wrong again - it was thoroughly looked into. "he was making quite a bit of money illegally " Total hogwash. How much money? from where? No proof whatsoever to level such a cheap, unsubstantiated claim. I thought you were better than this. Now I am wrong.
What makes you think the Bobby D story was crap? You think OSU disassociated itself from him for nothing? Receiving free tats isnt the selfish part, knowingly breaking NCAA rules and putting yourself before your team is selfish. If Posey were trading his stuff just to raise money for his mother I wouldnt be too upset, but its hard to sell me on that story when he received free tattoos as well. Hell I would even bet that if these guys were just raising money for their families instead of getting free tattoos and driving nice cars they would never get caught in the first place.
Now this has degenerated into moronic babble.
How do you know it was thoroughly looked into? Or are you making an unsubstantiated claim there? You think Posey was suspended for an entire season and Pryor wouldnt have been? He would have and that season would have been 2010 if JT would have told the truth from the start. I dont have to have much proof, it's just logic. There were claims that Pryor made somewhere close to 40,000 from stuff he gave Bobby D. Do I have proof? No, but If he was getting free tats, driving nice cars, wearing expensive jewelry, etc what makes you think that claim isnt true? Where there's smoke there's fire. I love how so many Buckeye posters want to jump to conclusions when it comes to an $EC player but then give the benefit of the doubt to one of our own. This is just speculation, but do you think the NCAA really wanted to completely bring OSU down, one of its main money makers? That just sounds bad for business to me. Dont even bring up PSU, that's an isolated incident where the NCAA was forced to be harsh.
That's what all the elitists on here say when they have no comeback.
Even with the vacated season Pryor was still undefeated against Michigan. Not many can make that claim.
Cesimon, I'm with you as I am not bitter either. I have watched a lot of these debates unfold and the fact is a lot of fans are still upset about the situation. I am done with it as well but those who aren't get all up in arms. It's not that I don't blame Pryor or tressel I just don't see the need to rehash it everytime someone posts about tress or Pryor or posey or tattoos lol.
Let's analyze those scUM teams that TP went undefeated against:
Sorry, not impressed.
