I looked at a number of web sites today including NFL.com's recent mock drafts that showed big Hank at no better than 27th pick and two analysts showing him going to SF with the 2nd to last pick in the first round. Every time I see a comment on this site people say he's a top 10 or 15 pick. What has changed the view in recent weeks ?
how can you fall before the combine?
I am sure if he ran a good 40, interviews well, etc he would go up on draft boards right?
I love what these ESPN and draft analysts think, with all the trading up and down that goes on I think it is impossible to guess what is going to happen.
He'll raise up after the combine when people see how athletic the if man is.
He isn't falling as much as that he is unlucky that this is a big-time DT draft (as in best prospects at the position in 20 years according to scouts) and he is no better than the #4 guy on most draft boards and he may be as low as the 6th or 7th DT off the board after testing and all the other stuff. There is little to no shot that he goes before Shariff Floyd, Shelton Richardson, or Star Loutileili. It is unlikely that four DT's go in the top 20 and he will be behind the Alabama kid Jesse Williams and the Georgia DT Jon Jenkins as well Sylevester Williams of North Carolina on some draft boards as well. It is very unlikely he goes in the 20-25 picks in this draft. In a normal year he goes top 15 for sure but this draft is so deep at his position.
Actually what happens is lots of guys fall and rise before the combine because there is an intense evaluation period done on films between January and the combine. This is what seperates most guys on draft boards. That is when draft boards in war rooms are made. The combine is used by most teams in this day in age only when two players grade out on film the exact same. Then teams will use their measurable to determine who they like better as well as pro days. I have a really close friend in the business. I just asked him about Hankins and the knock on him is that he isn't as explosive as other DT's rated ahead (Loutileli, Floyd and Richardson) and he goes away and doesn't dominate for long periods at times during games. Watch out for the North Carolina kid Williams to shoot up boards at DT as well, he is real raw but is a freak. It could hurt Hankins who alot of teams see with a lower ceiling.

Never felt he was close to top 10 talent. Lack of production. Very few negative plays. One analysis said he had a disappointing yr.
Kid has a great motor. He will be a good pro. Bad luck for him with all the other great DTs coming out...but if I was a pro team that could take him after #25 I would thank my lucky stars.
Someone set this man straight please.
Actually I think it's because Mel Kiper knows all...and nobody dare challenge his draft prowess with that killer haircut haha
Need to look at team needs when finally projecting drafts. Guys his size with that athletic ability are always needed.
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
Elite DL always go higher than expected in the draft.
I dont doubt that his top 10 projection is off base... but he is certainly a top 20 player. Man is a human wrecking ball and rarely takes plays off. Every team in the NFL needs at least one person of his size/talent at that level.
I miss my Kate Upton Picture
Love to see him in SF!
I wouldn't say nobody challeges him.
always thought he needed another to mature and - yes another big year under Coach M in the weight room....before making the jump
Big Hank is good player and his best football is ahead of him.
An there's no way Urban Meyer is the coach at The Ohio State University either.
If he isn't picked in the 1st round he should've come back.We shall see.
