UM has been very vocal that we need more night games in the B10. I think it's simply a matter of time before it gets moved to prime time. What do you all think?
I doubt it will be a night game but 3:30 I would bet.
We'll see. But I would not be one bit surprised if The Game starts at 8:00 come November of 2014.
If people are thinking right it WILL NOT become a night game. A night in late November in Columbus can be a very chilling experience and is not necessary...also just what we need are thousands of rival fans all liquored up all day to face each other on the streets before and after a game.....if you have ever walked Lane ave after a night game wiht some teenager kids or grandkids you took to a game...the street is filled wiht what I call "degenerate" individuals on the streets and on balconys, spewing out filth and names that are not fit for young people to hear......that is not "freedom of speech" it is just stupid....my son and I went to a Michigan game about 3 or 4 years ago and it was cold and raining and he wore a yellow poncho....there is not a bigger Buckeye fan living....we were walking up Neil Ave past some houses and there were 3-4 drunk guys on a porch and one of them called my son a "rotton scUm SOB"...we were on the other side of the street but my son crossed the street and went over in front of the house and asked the guy "what did you call me?". My son is 6'4" and about 240#....the guy would not anwer him, but went inside the house...and that was at 3:30 in daylight! I hate to think of what a night game would be like!
I can see it being moved to 3:30pm or 4pm but not any later. Too cold for that late a game in November. You don't want a game so cold that it ends up being 6-3. Plus as noted, the alcohol consumption would be off the chart and that is gasoline, lighter fluid and a match for this game.
3:30pm would be perfect IMO
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I thought I read on here there are no night games allowed after October ends. Not sure why, just passing it along
There is a B1G rule against night games in November.
That was an unwritten rule for the BIG but delany came out and said it was not an actual rule and if teams wanted night games in novermber they were allowed to do so.
330 for Michigan game. It will be dark in part of second half, and that would be awesome. 06 game was 4 o'clock if I'm not mistaken
I don't buy the "it is too cold" argument. I have been to plenty of games in Cleveland in December and January, so I'm pretty sure we could handle a November night game in Columbus.
When is the last time you saw a Cleveland game in January?
BTW, you are comparing the NFL to the Collegian game. IMO, that is apples and oranges.
I could see a 6:00pm at the very latest start but an 8pm start would be potential for issues.
To cold wtf we live in Ohio no shit it gets cold thats football. I would also think those that could get into "the game" at night" would not worry about cold weather. So sick of that its to cold shit if its that bad then those should move down to the $ec. I myself would be crazy pumped for a night game even if we started at 5 would be ok with me.
Just to be clear, I wasn't advocating moving it to 8:00. Just saying I would not be surprised if it happened. Personally, I agree that a 3:30 start would work well. I think we would be better served moving many of the other games to 8:00. But a lot of it probably depends on TV coverage.
Yeah, it's too cold for these players, and the score will be 6-3. Give me a break. The OHSAA plays their state title games in December, and the grand daddy (div 1) starts at 7pm. Some of you need to grow a pair.
Jimmie, what kind of buckeye fan lets their kid wear any blue or yellow on that day. Spend the 5 bucks and get a red poncho, Geeze.
I wish people would stop whining about it being cold in Columbus at night in November....
Who gives a shit? If you went to "The Game" this season, it was fucking cold....having played it at noon or at midnight wouldn't have made any difference. The fact of the matter is it was g*d damn cold.
People realize there are all kinds of games played in the "northern states" in the winter months at night, right? Soldier Field, Lambeau, Browns Stadium, Foxboro? It is simple really, if you don't like the cold, don't go to the night games in November.
Now, what that rant complete I hope "The Game" stays at noon....but I would be open to a 3:30pm kick.
What happened Jackson is that we went to the game notexpecting rain or drizzle, and did not take our proper rain gear...I had a rain suit I got out and put on, and My son found a yellow poncho in his bag that he put over his Ohio State gear....since we were away from the Stadium at that time, it should not have been a problem...the loud mouth was lucky that time.....I just love people who let their drunken mouth "overide" their cowardly azz! Oh, and my boy was 35 years old so kind of past the "kid stage"..ha ha..

And for those who are real tailgaters, a night game helps immensely. It's colder at 7 AM in those lots than it would be at 8PM crammed into the Shoe. Not having to get out there at 6 AM would be nice.
You see that sign that says 'Rib Tips'??
Forgiven, but anywhere within state lines on that day you might be subjected to that.
2012 against the Steelers was the last Browns game I saw in January.
Whether college or pro it's football outdoors. I can understand the students getting liquored up argument, but I don't buy the weather argument.
Btw, I would be fine with 6:00.

I don't get all the whining here. This is the #1 game the B1G has to showcase in November and it damn well should be a Night Game. It should be a prime time game that the entire nation should see. But yes, I can see if some of the "traditionalists" had their way here... we'd (The B1G) keep conceding high profile November games in prime time to the SEC instead. But hey, atleast we're maintaining "tradition" and staying a little bit warmer.
Thank god for Urban Meyer. He sees the big picture here....
Tradition my @ss!! We are now gonna have Maryland and Rutgers in the B1G, they can take that tradition argument and shove it.
answer===yes.......it is destined to be a night game.
Even if the powers that be do not already have that intention....you have heard them speculating in the past few weeks about the increased ticket prices and "premium" games and "increasing national exposure"..........nothing hits all of those target areas like a tOSU vs. scUM nationally televised night game.
It's going to happen, and probably sooner rather than later.
Should it be moved? ......that's a different story and open for debate.......but it IS going to happen.
No shit, the eighties were a long time ago.
BS! They played in January in 2012.
