... or does Urban Meyer get the shortest handshakes from oposing coaches after the game?
Agreed. He doesn't seem to be a favorite among Big Ten coaches.
No, it is not just you. A couple of my friends and I have discussed this. I believe everyone is expecting the old Ohio State - the one that stopped playing in the third quarter, either to protect a slim lead, or to show a semblance of mercy. Meyer brings a whole new approach - he has to remove one of his hands from around their throats in order to shake hands. They probably see him as 'ruthless,' while secretly aspiring to be like him.
Plus they are jealous of what is about to happen in the B1G and nationally and can do nothing to stop it. The fear will creep up through the ranks and eventually reach Alabama. It's like a horror movie where everyone is screaming "Don't go in there!"
The marriage between Meyer and the largest school in the country, with the largest number of sports, the largest budget, the greatest number of pros in the last 20 years, the largest alumni base, the most popular school, etc., etc.., will have everyone looking over their shoulder. The topic of conversation will be "What are we going to do about Ohio State?" in much the same way as Alabama is now.
Great post. Very well constructed and a lot of good points.
This part is still cracking me up:
"....he has to remove one of his hands from around their throats in order to shake hands."
"according to a source familiar with the goings on behind the doors of the WHAC,there is absolutely no panic.Actually, quite the contrary."
