We'll have much more after practice wraps up after 6, but wanted to give a quick update that sophomore Jamal Marcus has moved from linebacker to defensive end.
Keep it locked here tonight for a practice report, videos from practice, a story on what Urban Meyer has to say after practice and video of Meyer's presser.
"Playing here is the closest thing to heaven on earth..." - Brian Rolle
Man, what a bummer.
I hope it helps him but with our defensive end talent in place and whats coming in; he could be on his way outta here.
Marcus was a beast in high school at DE I would love to see on passing downs..Marcus on one side..Spence on the other...Adolphus at the 3 tech, and maybe Bosa at the other DT spot..and just say go kill the QB...my gosh that would be scary
When everyone runs out...we run in. Support your firemen.
or he could blossom into a helluva DE!
Should we take this as a reflection on Miller and Pittman? We still don't have great numbers at LB and the coaches haven't gotten their hands on the freshman yet. That said I'm excited to see what Marcus can do at DE.
Let us know how Perry Looks Dave! thanks!
Over Spence or Washington who is his same year?
Better then Tyquan, Pittman? Bosa? What about the upper class men?
I suppose he could. We do rotate a lot but I don't ever see him being a starter here.
...the kid just moved to DE a few hours ago and you're already ready to send him packing? So he wasn't recruited to the position like the guys you named, but I recall Marcus being one helluva DE in HS...
how bad was he to get moved from LB, where we have a huge deficit of quality
I'm sure this is the "Viper" role. Marcus is a physical freak, and in sure he's put on 15 or so more LBs since the season. He'll probably be around 255-260 by season
I think Jamal Marcus to DE is a great idea!!! GO BUCKEYES!
Yes it would... Especially when you consider those for would have a human missle like Shazier running sideline to sideline wreaking havoc.
I think it's funny that people were all for Curtis Grant moving to DE but are now freaking out about Marcus making the move. They were very similar in size out of HS. I am surprised that Grant hasn't moved to DE and didnt do so before Marcus though.
Moving to DE is hardly a downgrade..in fact coaches place a premium value are pass rushing defensive ends.. coaches place a high value on defensive ends who can get to the quarterback...Teams with the best DLs usually are playing for championships..IMO you can never have enough DEs..
Woody and Archie.................................. Alex being Alex, ....................................and Woody at Dennison
after watching him play ST last year this is the best spot for him IMO, he has the motor of a dynamic DE.... LB is more read and react, hard to think that would work with the way he seems to play... Passing down blitzing sack machine in the making.
