Wasn't much of a surprise that he got the red shirt. Does he move to a slot position? We are very deep in the running back position. If all else fails he adds competition within the play makers position which will always be beneficial.
He was given a medical redshirt before the season ended?
I like the move if Hyde leaves but don't like it if Carlos stays. We're doing just fine with Hyde busting 5-15 yd runs with Smith spelling him. Don't want to disrupt a good thing or cause a running back controversy.
Meh I'm not enthused about it. He doesn't have burst, straight line speed or the size to bang.
In the right capacity he is very solid and could be very efficient in UM system. He never had a chance this year with injury sustained prior to the season. Coach's were very high on him after the spring session.
Let's see how this plays out. He offfers the very important intangibles of - leadership, experience, and being one of UM guy's...
UM says "I love that guy"...
pound for pound ...still the player John Gruden called the best pound for pound player on OSU's roster ( pre Braxton ).
Without burst, speed and ...well that's it. So what are the "right" spots he could fit in to Urbans offense when he lacks the top 2 things on Urbans list...? We don't need leadership...we will have several seniors next year....
I say cut our losses with Hall. Last remnant of the tat 5. Time to move on...
What it adds is leadeship for the young guys, experience with the play book, depth and some versatility. He is also a known commodity where you can debate his value all you want, he is a proven conributer, instead of an unknown kid who we all HOPE he contributes.
Mistake redshirting him. We need real speed.
I said this in the other thread about JHall...I do not see a negative to having him back on the team...especially if he goes out and earns playing time, which he will.. there is a reason he was getting good reps when he was healthy this season! the kid is a solid football player!!
You don't have a clue what you're talking about bg71. Hyde is very good and he always keeps his legs moving and falls forward. Great, maybe not,.....yet....
People also don't have a clue if they think hall doesn't have any burst or speed. Urban him called him his number one playmaker coming out of spring. He makes a great option for braxton to pitch too. Go back and watch the MSU game, hall looked very good. He will be a great asset out of the back field coming back as a fifth year senior
"according to a source familiar with the goings on behind the doors of the WHAC,there is absolutely no panic.Actually, quite the contrary."
Right, he isn't very good. We heard that same argument about Hyde recently.
right- rod smith sucks too. lol
