With Bill's 2014 hot list posted today, I looked and some of the names and wondered if we would be talking about them a year from now. So I decided to look at the hot list he posted a year ago on signing day looking forward to the 2013 class. By this point last year, we had two verbals in Jalin Marshall and Cam Burrows. Interestingly, out of the 18 guys on Bill's hot list, we only ended up with two: Eli Apple and Billy Price. Many of them were on our radar for awhile, but either selected someone else, or we backed off of (Zaire, Shelton, Green, etc). It's interesting to think about as we look at Bill's hot list. A lot can change in a year.
Bucknuts was first with a 2012 Ohio State Hot List as well as a 2013 Ohio State Hot List. Today we are back for yet another edition of who the Bucks are targeting for 2013.

I love going back and looking at these old lists. Not only did we only land two off of that list, they were the easiest two to recruit. Apple was an early lean and Price was an in state kid who I'm thinking grew up wanting to play for the Buckeyes. Can't wait to reflect back on the 2014 list a year from now after we celebrate wins over tsun and an SEC opponent in the BCS National Championship game and the #1 recruiting class.
What's also crazy is that TSUN ended up getting 6 guys on that list.
Wow...that is pretty crazy. I think the difference is that the staff was new and it was hard to tell then who they were enamored with the most. I'm hoping we get more than 2 on the 2014 hot list.
This is not a knock on Bill. He does a great job but I think he found out that with Meyer as a recruiting analyst you can't just throw out the top few names in Ohio/Midwestern states and have it covered. It is a whole new ball-game.
