Dontre Wilson in, Vonn Bell next?
By Charles Doss/Land Grant Holy Land
Feb 5, 6:00a
Urban Meyer, Tom Herman, and company landed No. 24 Monday night. Could No. 25 be just ahead?
n case you missed it, Monday evening, the Ohio State football team added ( http://bit.ly/YA7Ez1 ) the 24th commitment to an already impressive 2013 recruiting class. Texas all-purpose back (and one time Oregon commit) Dontre Wilson (De Soto, Tx/De Soto), decided the Buckeyes were the right team for his services, in lieu of the Ducks and his home state Texas Longhorns.
For those keeping score at home, that gives Buckeyes star recruiter (and surely future head coach) offensive coordinator Tom Herman Wilson, 4-star LB Mike Mitchell, and 4-star QB J.T. Barrett. Not a bad little pipeline the Buckeyes have in the works from the Lone Star State. And for those wanting to know the immediate impact of adding the 4-star Wilson, the Buckeyes are now second in the 247Composite rankings, in a virtual dead heat with Florida for second in Rivals' team rankings ( http://bit.ly/YA7OX8 ), and second in the Scout.com team rankings. Not a bad night for Buckeye Nation at all.
But Urban Meyer and staff aren't done trying to add future All-Americans with Wilson. The staff is patiently waiting to hear from a few other top prospects from around the nation. Stud safety Vonn Bell (Rossville, Ga/Ridgeland), who as of late seemed to be flipping between Alabama, Tennessee and Ohio State, is finally ready to announce where he will take his talents. Bell, will let the world know where he is headed Wednesday at 10:00 am, and you can watch the five star peach state prospect make his decision on ESPNU. Though many recruiting analysts believe Bell is down to Tennessee and OSU, a number like the Buckeyes chances.

Hearing that things could be trending back to #OSU for Vonn Bell. This one is a roller coaster. #Vols

Sunshine state wide receiver James Clark (New Smyrna Beach, Fl/NSB) announced Monday that he will pick between Ohio State, Clemson and home state Florida. The four star burner, like Bell, will also make his decision Wednesday at 10:00am EST. Many of the national recruiting analysts feel Clark could end up staying put and joining the Gators.
Ohio State running back commit Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis, Mo/John Burroughs) has had the Ohio State faithful counting down the days till Coach Meyer receives his Letter of Intent. Fortunately, they will only have to wait a little bit longer. Elliott will make his decesion Wendsday at 3:00 CST between his home state Missouri Tigers and the good guys. From the sounds of things Ezekiel can't wait to get the recruiting process over with:
Ezekiel Elliott #⃣2⃣ @EzekielElliott
Man. Ready for signing day. Ready to get this over with
8:52 PM - 04 Feb 13
Today, Kentucky ATH Ryan Timmons (Frankfort, Ky/Franklin Co.) will be announcing where he will be spending the next few years of his life. At 1:00 EST, Timmons will choose between OSU, Florida, Illinois and Kentucky. It was reported last week that the Buckeyes have stopped recruiting the Blue Grass state speedster. Many of the national analysts believe Timmons will be a Wildcat when it's all said and done:
Still think it's #UK for Ryan Timmons. Think #UF gets James Clark. Win-win for both.

While it was a hail mary at best for 2013 4-star WR (and UO commit) Darren Carrington to wind up anywhere other than Oregon (especially after he and his father elected not to visit Ohio State with little guarantee there was a committable scholarship actually waiting for him), it seems like Oregon won't go completely 0-fer on Tuesday night. Though the Ducks may have struck out on Wilson, they can at least take solace in knowing that Carrington wil be suiting up for them next season:
Adam Gorney @adamgorney
Darren Carrington shuts it down, sticking with #Oregon (I did not include the rivals link/gessig)
5:23 AM - 05 Feb 13
2014 Georgia defensive end Dante Sawyer (Suwanne, Ga/N. Gwinnett) added offers from Arkansas and USC on Monday. Sawyer, plans on visiting Ohio State this weekend with a gang of other peach state prospects including, Demarre Kitt (Tyrone,Ga/Sandy Creek) and Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga/Cedartown), to name a few.

2014 North Gwinnett DE Dante Sawyer has gotten two offers today. #USC and #Arkansas

And staying in the class of 2014, it looks like Ohio State will have a big post-Signing Day unofficial visitor heading to Columbus. 4-star DE Lawrence Marshall from Southfield, Michigan will be heading to campus this weekend to see what Ohio State has to offer. From the sounds of it, Marshall is pretty amped up for the trip:

Ohio State this weekend I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Woody and Archie.................................. Alex being Alex, ....................................and Woody at Dennison
Great stuff. I can't imagine more than 3 DL in the next class, especially with Booker recruited as a LB who could grow into a rush end.
I wonder if OSU would accept a verbal from Marshall with Sawyer, McDowell, and Hand all out there?
He seems worth it to me then again could he be a Sevon Pittman who grows into a bit of a tweener?
Is Raekwon McMillan coming to town with all the other Georgia kids?
With Reuben Foster committing to Bama...(again) I think that bodes well for us and Raekwon.
Kwon has said before he doesn't want to play where Reuben Foster plays and many believe Bama is actually our biggest threat to steal Kwon from us.
Gessig = Beast
Thanks for the post!
"It's great to be home." -Urban Meyer
We are not getting hand. Not in his top five, which Florida just jumped into, and I think most every analyst predicts va tech.
I'm not convinced a top 5 means anything .
With Example being that he sets out and determines who it is that he wants,
then the prime time spotlight reveals of kids coming into the fold in spite of previous Top5 lists or even outright verbals...
...the DreamTeam matchup marriage of Urban Meyer and Ohio State is so formidable, .. proves that no recruit can really be considered unattainable.
I'm still a little uneasy about Zeke. Why the need to come out with an announcement on signing day when he's already verbally committed? This is the one LOI that the ink can't dry soon enough on the paper.
Great information Gessig (as always), especially on Signing Day Eve.
Here is a link to the Tennessee site with a UT take on Bell (and surprisingly on Trey Johnson). Looks like this was posted by Ryan Callahan, GoVols247 staff writer, this morning (Feb 5) at about 8:00 EST.
I didn't realize UT had at least 9 commitments possibly pending. Things are pretty crazy at Bucknuts with 2 pending, it must be insane over there.

Agreed. Hand made it a top 6 in order to name tOSU's place. They are a contender.
There is a long season ahead. His top 5 consists of:
VT (Beamer is in early retirement and the team is backsliding),
Meatchicken (next year will be worse than this year was),
UNC (they won't last in this group)
S.Car (nearly the exact same distance from Woodbridge, VA as Columbus!)
I expect OSU to challenge for the top 3 within the 2013 football season.
Thank you JfSmith, Jelly and Tembuck :-) GoBucks.
Tembuck, did it seem to you that when he gave his top 5, it was a short time later he amended it to make sure everyone knew OSU was just outside that top 5?
I agree with you. They are a player. Urb will not deny himself expending every angle possible if he wants a guy. And Hand is one worthy of that effort.
We are seeing a great time at tOSU, recruiting was always a year long affair, but this is now being done with an off the freaking charts level of energy.
Urban burn out is all we have to be wary of.... that and Who the heck would ever measure up if he stepped away?
My heavens, perish that thought gessig, you fool
I agree it could change but he hasn't visited has he? And if he has, not having us in top 5 isn't a good sign
But RyGuy, Meyer has a year to work on him and his top5 list :-)
RT @NeylandNews Update on Vonn Bell Per Corey Vereen's high school coach (Petree) Von Bell will be signing with Tenn. http://fb.me/1TnWkFhYg
