Jordan already had great players around him... The cavs failed to put anyone around him that was good, or not washed up..
Rodman pound LeBron?
LeBron has about 20 pounds on him, not to mention being bigger, stronger, more athletic and smarter. LOL
70% is nuts regardless. Scottie Pippen was ELITE, top 50 player of all time.
Great post, and right on.
Over the career I like LJs chances at best ever...he is playing at an unreal level right now. I loved MJ but don't think he is half the team player LJ is. MJ would shoot up the rock every time if he had the opportunity...Just my oppinion.
The key to how this argument gets fleshed out is how long DWade can stay healthy vs how much Westbrook and the rest of OKC's supporting cast can improve.
LeBron is at worst top 5 players in the last 40 years by any unbiased opinion. There's not 10 players over that same span I would take over KD. KD might be the best pure scorer I've ever seen and he's only 24. OKC is f'n stacked for the next 5-6 years. I honestly can't see Miami beating OKC four more years. This year Miami repeats. I then think that's it for them unless they revamp their supporting cast.
I weigh championships. Magic's 5 weigh more than Mike's 6. Larry's 3 are about equal to Mike's. If Magic hadn't had to go against Bird, he would've had 8.
Or maybe, just maybe it's the other way around...
Scottie and Dennis laugh...
Jordan was great; no doubt about it-- leader in scoring and steals. Today's players are denied a 3rd step (even the stars) and on defense. any thing below the elbow was considered all ball for Jordan. The NBA and especially the commissioner pandered to Jordan.
Todays game is all about finesse. The Detroit Pistons of the 80s would be suspended indefinitely in today's game. Those guys were brutal. Laimbeer was a thug; if you drove the paint against him, you were landing HARD. That era had some teams that would physically abuse you (hey, fouls to give).
Jordan, being as driven as he was, took it right at them game after game, knowing that the hard fouls were coming. Detroit bested him early in his career, but once he learned to let others shoot, he became unstoppable.
Just an absolute will to win. Case in point. During the NBA championship vs Portland, the debate was who was better...Jordan or Drexler....Some of the writers were giving the odds to Drexler based on better three point shooting. Jordan hit six threes in the first half of game one en route to 35 points AT THE HALF.
The man just loved a challenge.
