I used to question Woody, Earl, Coop, and Tress for filling out the end of a recruiting class with "fillers" who served as no more than cannon fodder for the 3 or 4 years they were there. Hell, look at Tressel's last class, especially the O line. That kind of player is a thing of the past under UFM. How would some of you like to go back to that? Sprinkle would be a great "get" under any of those coaches. He is said to be ahead of where another former Elyria player was at the same stage - Farris seems to be doing quite well from all reports.
I couldn't help but think of this after reading the thread topic:
THEY TOOK HIS JOB!!
Many posters are over-excited and a bit confused right now about recruiting nationally. That all sounds great but in all honesty Urban and his staff know most of our recruting class is gonna come from the state of Ohio and midwestern states. If they see an Ohio kid they like and can play he's gonna get offered. Even in USC's glory years of recruiting 75% of their classes came from California and most the rest came from Pac-10 country. Recruting nationally means you can pull a couple kids each class from some other conferences recruiting territory as in 2 or 3 guys in a class - we already did that with Baugh I think we can do it couple more times. And for Christ's sake don't worry about star-ratings - if these guys could really project and evaluate worth a horses ass how a recruit is gonna play in college they would be on a major D1 schools payroll.
Message boards are for opinions and everyone should be able to voice there's. But if you're going to voice something, please be able to support it and defend it. Saying "why are we going after 3 stars?" is weak. But I'd you say (for example) "I feel like player x has better burst" "is a bigger need" "fits better in our system" etc is great. But don't just come in and regurgitate rankings. We all know what they are ranked.
