Badass!! And I'm not just talking about the mullet!.
I wrestled him in summer tournies...well I was on the mat at the same time anyway..
Hahaha. Hope he was never quoted as not breaking a sweat. My got beat by Tony Johnson in HS and that was the quote tony gave the paper. My buddy reenacted the event and it was hilarious.
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
This video and these threads popped up a lot last year. I was on two Ohio Junior National Freestyle teams with Luke. Aside from Alan Freid, he was the most dominant wrestler of that era. It was amazing how easily he handled elite wrestlers he faced. He would have won a third national freestyle title had he not passed on competing his Senior year to get ready for football. I remember at that tournament, the guys from his weight class were all openly talking about how stoked they were he wasn't wrestling and that someone else was going to get a chance to win that year. These were the best prep wrestlers in the country.
Alan Fried was a beast. I remember watching him wrestle his junior year. He would do like 50 pushups before a match to warm up. He just destroyed his opponents.

He was on a different level than anyone else. Alan was a world class level wrestler while still in HS at St Ed's.
Wow. You and I must have been on a couple of those same teams. Brian Church was my coach. Are you from the Columbus area?
No Cleveland area. But I was on 4 of them as well as cadet teams too. I wrestled the circuit like crazy as a youth. Church's name rings a bell. I'm getting so old now, it seems like a lifetime ago!
Wow I knew he was a great wrestler bit I didn't know he won't three straight state titles and was undefeated. That is insanely good.
